Default Mg .21 - .07 - .16?
This is a newb question I'm sorry. I got some miracle grow soil that says it has fertilizer for up to 3 months (time released?) and after 3 months to add the prescribed MG fertilizer.

I'm kind of confused though. I've seen soil that says 21-7-16 meaning 21% of the soil is nitrogen, 7% is phosphorus and 16% is potassium the remaning 56% is just filler right?

So if the soil mix says .21-.07-.16 does that mean it only has less then 1% of each nutrient? And if this is the case can you add nutrients safely to that without burning out the plants?

Yes, .21-.07.-.16 isn't a lot of nutes. Stay away will soil that is full of nutes for the seedling stage.

Don't add nutes until the plant is healthy enough to start taking small doses. Usually 3-4 weeks after is has gotten healthy you should be safe to add small amounts of nutes. But every plant is different, so what could work for someone else, doesn't mean it will work for you.

Ah I see! Well so far I haven't messed up then. I have a few seedlings in that soil that I described and I've only watered with distilled water and haven't added nutes yet. I'll add a 1/2 strength solution in a week or so and see how they react.
