can you tell if it is a female or male if it smells. i have one plant that smells like bud and one that dont have a smell at all. they are the same age

No, smell will not determine the sex of your plants. You will have to switch it to 12/12

they grow and produce hormones at a different rate due to genetics and conditions being a little different between the sites .

no...... you probably have just 2 different strains....is it bagseed or proven genetics? how tall are the plants, and how old. preflowers should start emerging soon. that is the only way to distinguish sex...
look for ugly balls on the internodes (males) or sexy teardrop shaped flowers (females) with two white hairs coming out....females are unmistakeable.

From what i've gathered so far with seeing and smelling males and females, males show quicker, and smell long before females do.........smell like pot, while she didn't, but i definently know its a girl.

In both instances i had a 5" and a 10" tall boy that reaked more than a 2 ft tall girl did........But they also showed sex quicker too.
