Default metal halide bulbs

okay everyone i have an 400w hps and im about to buy a 400w MH BULB what i need to know is the following: can i just a 400w metal halide or does it have to read 400W CONVERSION ON IT? THANX IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

You need a conversion bulb for it to work. i just bought an EYE MH conversion bulb for my 400hps. Cost me $90.

I think you got it a bit wrong .
For every MH you need a MH ballast and for very HPS you need a HPS ballast
OR !
You can look and buy a multiple-balast, for boht MH and HPS , I have about 4 250 W multi balast fixtures working just fine, and I just switch the bulbs when I need to .

BUT, for you to use a MH bulb on your HPS fixture, you must first consult the HPS balast and see if it does suport both, in most cases if you didn;t buy a multi use ballast, it;s not . .

Hey Buddy, buy this "Horitlux Metal Ace COnversion Bulb" its a 400w MH lightbulb that can be used in your 400w HPS ballast. I use one right now

i think you got it wrong. :P You can get a HPS/MH conversion where there is a switch on the ballast, or a digital ballast, or if you only have a HPS with ballast... you have to buy a MH conversion like stated in this thread.
