panhead is right, any old bag seed can be grown into some righteously good smoke in the hands of a competent grower. a lot of what ruins "commercial" pot is the way it gets cured and then packaged and shipped.... take the dankest bud you have ever seen and cram into into a tight 50 kilo brick and move it around like that for a couple months and see what type of schwag you wind up with in the end.

what seed bank seeds do provide though is known genetic traits... such as those Lowryder 2's... instead of the pot luck that might get you a monster sativa plant, you can pretty well be assured you will get a small autoflowering plant if you buy Lowryder seeds.

the seed banks allow us to look at the characteristics of a plant and decide what would suit our growing styles, our enjoyment tastes or even our medical requirements.

they also allow a better shot at getting some fresher seeds of known good quality rather than some 2 year old seeds that might be inbred all to Hell and cross pollinated by some left over WWII Indiana grade ditch weed.

good grows make for good buds... good cures and storage make for some GREAT buds. the inverse is true.

I know it can be frustrating when others are clueless! lol.. What about the feminized part? To be honest, it was the most influential componant in my decision to spend money at a seed bank. The strain is cool, but the fact that there will be no surprise males in my pots seemed worth the $ 2 me. But mayb I'm just being a noob? Is my fear of males exaggerated?

Mids is just a way of describing weed. Mid grade. Not the best, not the worst, in the middle. I also agree that some good weed can be grown from bagseed. I've done it, in fact, i grew bag weed for my first 4 grows. I grew seeds from about 10 different bags, all different weed. Some were good, some werent.

I agree with most everything panhead said. He is right that if you dont give the plant everything it needs, it wont be good, not matter what the genetics. And good bud can be grown from bagseed. However out of about 100 plants sprouted, about 40 females grown to maturity, there was only really one of the plants i was PROUD of. Now let me say that i am a pot snob. I regularly pay $500 a zip for the best i can get here. This is the kind of weed that i want to grow, but although everyghing i grew looked good, lots of crystal, harvested, dried, and cured properly, i wasnt impressed. The people i sold it to loved it, but they are easily impressed. For my 5th grow, i ordered seeds from BCBD, Sweet god and Purps. out of the 8 females i got from those seeds, there were 5 that i liked and were proud of. I like that ratio a lot better, than the 1 of 40 females i grew from bagseed. The other thing i was absolutely amazed with was how fast they grew (hybrid vigor my friend, cant get that from bag seeds.) I also got at least double the yield of my best bagseed plant, and much larger stalks, and bushy plants (they were bred for this.)

For newbs, my advice is to grow bagseed, or whatever you have to just get started. JUST GET STARTED! If you have an xtra hundred bills laying around, by all means, order some inexpensive seeds from a breeder. Listed below are my biggest reasons that i will probably not plant another bag seed.

1. no hybrid vigor. If you have grown f1 seed, you know what i mean.
2. Most of the seeds from mersh here is from mexico. In this part of the country sativas are the best plants to grow, since it is outdoors. Sativas are very tall and stretchy, not good for indoor growing.
3. If you take a seed from a "good" bag of bud, with hardly any seeds, chances are it was polinated with a male flower on a female plant (hermaphrodite) and the offspring will also probably be hermies too. (Of course not always, but most of the time.)

There are more reasons, but this post is getting too long. All i am saying is that i grew a LOT of bagseed, and only grew a few bred seeds from BCBC, and from that experience, i will never grow bagseed again.

Now panhead is absolutely right on that a newb cant expect to get good results just cause of genetics. Absolutely true. But once you know what you are doing, you WILL grow bigger, faster, and better tasting bud with bred seed, especially f1 seed stock. It just depends on your goals. If you just want to grow something pretty good, bag seeds are okay. If you wanna grow some of the best stuff available, you need the genetics. But good genetics grown bad will not produce good bud!!!

Now remember, i have much higher expectations for my harvest than most people. I want to grow and smoke the best, and that is why the best genetics are necessary for me.

I think that we will both agree that no matter what you wanna grow, just do it!! Grow whatever you have. marijuana isnt addicting, but growing it is!!
