baby, not according to Nirvana's website.

MK

First called High-Rise, Master Kush was developed in one of the tall buildings of south Amsterdam. Instantly the coffeeshops fell in love with this special new tetraploid. Through popular demand, this Hindu Kush/ skunk hybrid was stabilized and marketed. It has been a classic ever since. A strong plant of medium height and bushiness, Master Kush is a heavy producer with soil, hydro, and has great greenhouse results. The earthy smell of Master Kush is strong and the smoke is smooth.

Plant type: Best suitable for indoor growing.
Plant height: Medium- Indica/Sativa mix
Stoned or high?: Stoney yet high- Allround Buzz
THC level: Strong 15-20%
Flowering Weeks: 8/9
Yield (Sea of Green on one m2) : 500
Harvest Month: 8/9
Grow difficulty: Easy (Good for beginners)

EM

We have taken our famous Misty and crossed it with a super early skunk. Early Misty is our strongest outdoor variety. Early Misty stays low and has wide leaves. Early Misty stand low temperatures and is pest resistant. Some plants give almost a coffee scent when cured properly.

Plant type: Best suitable for outdoor growing.
Plant height: Short- Mostly Indica
Stoned or high?: Stoned- Indica Body Buzz
THC level: Strong 15-20%
Flowering Weeks: 8
Yield (Sea of Green on one m2) : 450
Harvest Month: 8
Grow difficulty: Easy (Good for beginners)

Baby, I know it's hard to judge from the pics I have posted but what would your best guess as to what I'll harvest wet from the taller plant? It stands about 30" or so.

I don't know where you're getting that it's Sativa dominant from. It's originally a Dutch Passion strain and bearing in mind Nirvana's are F2 knock off's it's best to go by what the original breeders say and Dutch Passion say it's Indica.

I am going on the "stoney yet high, all around buzz" description. Anyways, it doesn't matter. I wanted one strain with a couch-lock effect, which is how they described EM. Then I also wanted a social high, without having to grow a pure sativa strain (height and difficulty of grow being the main reasons). Unless Nirvana is wrong, I'll get close to the high I want. Nirvana may have crossed their F1 with some other sativa dominant strain, resulting in their version of MK, which may be more sativa. Possible.

Sure it's possible. I also looked up on the old Overgrow growers database for others who have grown out Nirvana's MasterKush and every one of them described MasterKush as a 'couchlock stone' which grows 'short and squat'. I also saw mention of Sativa phenotypes which does suggest that there's some sativa in it, but the primary pheno is Indica dominant.

If you're looking for Sativa qualities in well bred, reasonably priced seeds that don't grow too much out of control and are relatively easy to grow with a great support from the breeder take a good look at Mandala's offerings (www.mandalaseeds.com). I've just germed 4 Kalichakra (Sativa dominant from land race genetics) and 3 Satori (1 didn't sprout yet) also a Sativa dominant based on land race genetics.

I've not grown out Mandala's seeds before, but I've read really good things about their seeds and their breeding and they come highly recommended. They're also as reasonably priced as the Nirvana offerings, yet you're getting original breeder F1' s not knock off F2's. The breeder, Mike is also active in offering advice and guidance to growers of his seeds. Check them out.

Regarding yield from your tallest plant, the one that lost it's fan leaves? From what I can see you'll be lucky to get 0.75-1oz dry from that, I just dried and cured two 14 inch clones and reckon I got about 1 oz's each from both of them.

Good stuff. Thanks for the feedback. I actually looked at Mandala seeds and really wanted the Mazar that VM grew for my indica strain. I will take your advice and look into the Kali and Satori.

If I get 1oz cured from that plant, I'll be content. I won't be jumping up and down but I'll be content. Depending on potency, 1oz should last the Mrs and I about 4-5 weeks. If it turns out to be a crappy weakassed high, I may just make some hash from it.

Again, thanks for the info.

I don't with 100% certainty, but I do know Nirvana don't breed their own varieties, they simply take another seedbanks and make F2's from F1's. In all likelihood that MK came originally from Dutch Passion. It's an educated guess.

But whichever way you want to look at it MasterKush is more Indica than Sativa!

Much to report this morning. I examined my plants on Friday and discovered I had a spider mite (sm) infestation and not a small time one either! The smaller plant was swarming with them. After researching this problem, I began to panick. Everything I read said once you got sm's you are in deep shit, ESPECIALLY if you are already well into flowering, like I am. On Saturday, I prepared for major battle with the little fuckers. I bought some insecticidal soap $4.99 and some organic miticide $9.99. I began with the insecticidal soap because it said it was safe to use on fruits and veggies right up until harvest. I am guess I have about 2 more weeks before harvesting, so I am thinking I have time to flush any strange tastes. The miticide I got in case the soap didn't work. I carefulling removed the sm's and eggs I could get to by hand. The remainder, which included some on the actual buds, I sprayed with the soap. I was extrememly nervous about doing this, for fear of ruining the buds but I figured they would be goners anyway, so at least I could try saving them. I also gave both plants a watering using a little BB, SB and Superthrive. No molasses this watering.

Yesterday, I was very anxious to see how they were doing and thankfully, they seemed ok. There were still lots of sm's on the plants but they appeared dead. I cleaned off by hand what I could without damaging the leaves or buds. I did have to sacrifice some leaves which were badly damaged. I also made sure the grow area was examined and cleaned too. I plan on monitoring them very closely to see if they return.

I also looked at the trichs again and it was clear that the majority are still clear on both plants, so it looks like I have another couple weeks yet to harvest. I tried taking a few pics through the microscope. They are pretty crappy but you can clearly see the clear trichs. I also took some updated bud and plant pics. More are posted in my gallery.
