Default Lighting times??

Hi, i was told that when im starting my plants out on Veg, to use the light on a 24/0 basis.
Do i do this throughout the whole Veg period or do i change it to 18/6 at some point??
Thanks

it'sd best at 24/0 for the entire vegging process some say. Me? i prefer the 18/6 due to fact that plants do neat things (like produce THC and resins) during dark periods. As far as I know, plants need darkness to grow properly, but this is my first indoor grow, (actually today was the last harvest day! now it's just drying, trimming, and curing) so I am inexperienced w/ different lighting other than 18/6.

I thought the THC was produced (trichromes) during flowering. So 18/6 or 24/0 doesn't matter for THC.

The 24/0 vs 18/6 is a long debated issue.
From what I've read the pros vs cons are fairly close to equal. So the electric bill might be the deciding factor. Does 'Da Man' need more of *your* money? j/k.

Me? I went 24/0. Gonna try 18/6 sometime.

I've done it both ways and didn't really see a difference. I wasn't long at 24/0, maybe like 3 days, but either way you should be fine.

I'm doing 18/6 right now.

LOL! 3 days ?!?!?! That isn't enough time to come to any conclusion. Gotta do a full veg grow to say (pref with clones since they have the same genetics)

Yea, exactly why I said I probably didn't see a difference because I went for 3 days.

Within 3 days you should see a difference in growth. I didn't see any....

I guess the only con to leaving the lights on 24/0 would be if heat was an issue and cost of running them.

You will be safe either way you do it....

Heat isn't an issue for a 18/6 vs 24/0. The temps aren't going to go up that much more that last hours. The heat is already there at about the 5 hour mark.

Temps are more stable with a 24/0.

Now for the electric bill...... afraid to open mine Its here somewhere

But I agree that either is fine and won't cause probs (seen a few people 20/4 and 22/2, seemed odd to me)

Let me clarify what I meant. If you are running lights that constantly keep them temps at 84-85, then running them for 24 hours straight would be worse IMO. The temps will settle down when you give them 6 hours of darkness.
