Default 2 weeks in, starting problems...too much light?

hi all,

i have 8 in a rubbermade box setup. a good fan and air flow and a set of lights. 150wt x 6 and 100wt x 3. i added 3 more 150's (from 3 to 6) and i noticed that my plants leaves were starting to yellow and have tiny brown spots.

the growth has gone from solid, deep green to light (pale) green and droopy leaves.

i think i overwatered a few days ago which accounts for the curled leaves, but i don't know why the growth has stopped and the color change?

is it possible that i added TOO MUCH lighting? so, last night i removed the 3 150cfl i put in there to see if that makes a difference.

on a side note, it's about 2-3 weeks into and i haven't added any nutes, the soil is Scotts potting with no chem in it.

thanks for the help

hey mjmaupin, i've never heard of too much light you may have too much heat for that rubbermaid. what kind of vents do you have? for that much light you must have a constant air flow around your plants. get a couple of computer fans and bolt them to the rubbermaid

yea sounds like too much water and heat, make sure the soil completely dries out before watering again. the soil should litterally pull away from the sides of the pot

no nutes yet give them a chance recover first

hope this helps..

It's not a matter of too much light, it's a matter of too much HEAT produced by your lights. So what's the temp in your grow room? It shouldn't go above 85, and that's the highest (unless you're running CO2)

With lights, the only "too much" factor you can have is that there is too much heat. In that case, just pull them back some.
Can you clarify what kind of lights they are? You mentioned CFLs, are they are CFLs? If so, they are pretty good on not getting to hot.
Of course, Im still new to this, so someone with experience can comment and correct me if nec.

well, i think the heat is under control.

they're all CFL's and i have a good size fan that covers the whole area consistantly, i have a vent in the roof which you can feel the warm air being pushed out.

Scotts potting soil, no nutes in there.

should i begin a very conservative nute application? i've always heard to be careful when you start that. they're going on 3 weeks and see to need a "push" of somesort. they haven't grown in the last week really.

Do you THINK the heat is under control or do you KNOW? Do you not have a something to gauge the temp of your room? It's kinda important to know...

As for nutes, if they look like they need em, then yeah, you'd be ok to start them now. But make sure you start at like 1/8 the recommended strength.
