ok, so not only have i never grown a plant, but ive never even seen one in production... i built me a little tiny growing closet, got some fancy afghani seeds and germinated em and got now they are wide enough that i have em in big pots, i have six and they are all growing the same way. they are about 9in wide, so very bushy and short, like 2 to 3 inches short. they are producing secondary shoots and the main shoots are producing leaves in sets of nine(which ive learned is normal for ssome types of weed) and some of the leaves are huge and healthy looking

my closet has 12000 lunem with a mixture of "cool white" and "daylight" floro tubes and floro compacts running 24 hrs a day.
ive been planning on slowly introducing a night cycle begining today... is the height normal in any way? it eems like they should be tall and scraggly at this point, not short and huge... any advice for the beginer?

Yes, CFLs and floros grow short, bushy plants with tight internode spacing. The shorter and tighter the internodes, the better. This is normal. They will begin to stretch once induced to 12/12 for flowering.

I would go ahead and begin 18/6 light cycle.

I am using 280 watts of cfl power to illuminate my beuties. sound the same as yours, like 4 inches but ive already got 6 nodes on it with leaves the size of my hand. i do however have a 400w hps to flower them, something you may want to look into. it will benefit.

Afghani seeds almost certainly means indica and that genetically means a shorter thicker bushier plant so no they should not look tall and scraggly. If they did then most likely you did something wrong. Plus CFL’s and other fluorescent lighting does tend to grow shorter plants. Less light equals less growth.

As for your light time period change, go for it. It should be cool and the gang.

if they are only 2 weeks old then i think you should veg them some more. at least give it a full month in veg then go on to flowering it.afghani is a strong hashish plant growing that right could have you happy.
