I've been doing lots of reading here, but I still don't know what soil to use. I understand adding perlite is almost essential, and that Miracle Gro soils are too low in PH. But no one around here sells sunshine mixes or anything else that has been recommended. Whats the best soil I can get at either Target, WalMart, Home Depot, or Lowes? Or what can I ask a sales rep in a garden department so that s/he can get me the right stuff?

I have been using for the most part a soilless growing mix. You can obtain some at your local walmart, package is from jiffy-mix. what's great about it is that there's no nutritional value, and it's very light (which helps the roots breathe and grow). You will have to water your plants more often with a soilless mix than with a soil mix. About every 2 days I water my plants.
