I've just planted some rooted cuts in last year's Happy Frog (no extra lime), and I will say the soil didn't do well after drying all the way out and being rehydrated. It loses an awful lot of strange black grit when watered now. And it's developed a positive dislike of wetting. My grow last year in fresh HF went wonderfully (although be advised ... about 2 months in it ran out of nutrition all at once, and I supplemented with GH Flora three-part as if running soilless, with good results) but toward the end the soil began beading water and developing cracks/channels which made a thorough watering a bit of a hassle. cn
how about this, next grow, add only perlite to your grow and only water, and get back to me and let me know how well it went..
Thank you Cannabineer. Lot of good info. Anything else, worm castings or epsom salt, if so ratio plz. Also what size bag of HF
you referring to. I got the 2 cu/ft. bags.

<edit> for a slower Mg release I'd consider langbeinite (a less soluble magnesium potassium sulfate). It's sold as Sul-Po-Mag at garden centers (I use Orchard Supply here in the 'Stan) and makes a nice source of three of the plant's most greedily noshed ions ...

i'm with the bear though, not a real big fan of epsom salts as i've seen them cause more issues then they fix.. if anything, i'll use a bit of cal / mag plus liquid during the grow if they look like they could use a boost..
