Do clones need indirect or direct light? and can I use my veg room for cloning?

they dont need that much light, they can be in a shady spot in the veg room and do fine. i had four clones root in 3 weeks under 1 13w blue spec cfl.

I seem to only get red spec so I can't realy try to get white and I don't have a shady spot in my veg room
