I'm the New kid on the block ...first i must say hi to all members and mods, i've been reading up for a few months now and i must say this site is the best read by far keep up the great job. Ok with that said i need help with a newbie setup for a 4Lbs yield. I've seen alot of newbie asking about yeild with there current setup. what i want to do is get you guys info on what i need to make this yeild REALISTIC as a newbie.

how much space ??
how much lights ?? --- size and how may units to cover the space .... i'll be using switchable MH and HPS
A good commercial strian or a rounded strian that can produce what i'm looking for?
which method? Nature , SCROG ,SOG is a NO NO


My idea is to make a protable greenhouse from hollow section aluminum and make it air tight with industrial plastic and add a zipper for doorway. Then line the inside with foylon or maylar attached with velcro.The room will have added CO2 and 2 broan exaust fans the super quite ones, these will be conected to carbon filters. I'll be using top flood and drian with single bucket setup series to a res with added airpumps. Eventually plants will be grown from clones so take that into the calculation. If anyone has any tips or tweaks i'd love to hear them ....the room needs to be SUPER QUITE...and protable and easy to disassemble. I as actually thinking of getting a greenhouse kit but we'll see how that goes. My only concern is the electric bill does anyone have a idea what the average safe zone is for a 3 bedroom. I dont want to rise any flags in the process. if any additional info is needed i'll be happy to provide ....oh and the budget is 2000.

accully it takes alot of plants to get 4 pounds of marijuana even tho those seeds say 700g i dont think you will get that much, especially you're first time mate, so grow, grow again and you will get experience as you grow :P

Well everything depends on how much room. money, expirence, time and form of growth you wish to use.Dirt grow inside will take up the most room,followed by ebb and flow setup/hrdopontic and aero ponice the least space.Most high yeild starins will list the high total being with each plant getting 2m2( 2 square meters per plant).You going to have to be able to grow (a) larger quantity or (b) big plants. 4 lbs will take a little of each.I have seen 2 large plants get about that assuming 8-10 feet of plant height is not a problem such as a commercail building or large garage with 14 ft ceielings to give light room.You may want to go with an aero system and keep the final plants 4 ft or under and plant with the mind set of anywhere from 2-14 ozes per plant depending on the strain expirence and supplies you use.4 lbs on a smal setup with little expirence and low budget is a nice dream but won't happen.Now I am familiar with ebb and floww setups and some aero setups.The ebbs I know of by growers with years of practice and refined strains can bulk 10- 15 lbs per 4x 8 ft table which is roughly 16-18 plants.They use 4 1000 watt seitchable ballasts.2 co2 generators tend to work for heavy colas so crop and trim lower stuff and grow tho hrights of 5-6 feet per plant.I have seen aero systems that are 36 site systems that can get 5-10 lbs per harvest using the same 1000 watt light systems usaly 3 lights and a good co2 generator or injector.Either of these setups will do the job but be ready to spead few grand on the setup stuff and electricity.assume on the low side a room of 12 x 12 feet with 9 to 14 feet cielings depending on method.You can grow sog with any techniques but for 4 pounds figues 2-4 oz per plant if your good at this so I'd say minimum 32 full plants going with excellent setup with lights, fans, odor control,growing system,pumps, nutes,co2 injection, humidy care, and everything else.Im going to say for a first time grower 4 lbs will be a lofty goal unless you got the good start up capitol and a good expirenced grower to go to for questions and help.If you ve never done aero or hydro you should do a small few grows to get used to ph, ppm,ec and all hte other crutial measurements you will have to monitor daily.Good luck and post up which meadian you decide on and updates..

Thanks for the input guyz. 420.i figured that would be the case with strian yield figure....they probly use the max figure they could produce...how ever i've heard that THC Bomb is aon the weaker end..... filthyfletch do you have any strians you could recommend?? i was thinging of starting small just a few plant and tweak my setup to master ph, ppm,ec,... however i would just want to construct a big enough space for the 4 lbs grow. I have a 12 x 10 space with 8 ft ceiling. Our budget can be up 3500!!! .... Question though ... would 4 1000watt light be too much for a 3 bedroom place ...meaning would it rise any flags with power comsumption...thats the only problem i have with light setup ...or could i use a mover with 2 1000watt to replicate 4 1000watt???

If it were me, I'd utilize a lightmover, and incorporate some T-5's into my growing area. I also think I'd drop down to 600 watt lights, the depth of penetration that a 1000 watt light would give you, isnt what you need. You need to cover a broad area.
Maybe research sog? That many plants allowed to grow large would be very hard to manage, sog, would be more managable, or scrogging.

4lbs dry. Lets see, that's 16ozs to the pound, so thats 64 ozs. Average yield will be somewhere around 2-4 ozs per plant. So thats somewhere around 16-32 plants. So you're looking at about 24 plants yielding on average about 3 ozs each.

24 plants would require about 4 sq feet each for that kind of yield, so you're looking at an area of about 96 sq feet. That's an area of 12' x 8'. So you're about there on the space requirement.

For that kind of area, you'd be best lighting it with 6 x 400w HPS's. A 400w HPS will light a 4 x 4 foot area well and you have 6 4 x 4' areas. you could do it with 3 x 1000w systems or 4 x 600w systems but it wouldn't be as well lit as 6 x 400w systems.

You could also use 2 x 1000w systems on light movers running down the two 4 foot channels.

And its a good thing you raised your budget. Remember when planning your room you will need room to move around and tend your plants. And all that other stuff.

i would use 2 x 1000w HPS/MH conversion ballast systems... on motorized movers... and then about 2 t-5's on the walls to light the under growth... so it would be pretty pricey... and the money it would raise each month.. 1 1000w system is about 50bucks a month... so 2 is 100 bucks a month.. + 8 t-5's 2 on each wall mm lets say another 150.., to light undergrowth... well it will set u back about 1,300 just for the lights, and then everything else.. but with that much light... i could grow 60plants with high yeild. so in total for the setup i am buying its going to be $3,500 - $4,000 Canadian.... but with 60 plants yeilding 1-3oz. thats triple what u spent... weed is kind of an investment...


In total around $150 extra on ur power bill... so things to do to lower ur normal bill... turn hot water all the way down... leave all lights off, unless needed. unplug appliances that u wont need... this will bring ur power down enough so it will look normal... and i would try and grow a couple tomato's lol to throw people off if they have suspicions... but the power info i have given you is not "OFFICAL" its only a Guesstamit. sorry my spellin is rubbish.... but make due....
