    Default Electric bill question?

Hello fellow growers. I was thinking about switching from CFL to HID sometime in the future. How much should I expect the electric bill to go up during 24/0 with a 150-250w MH or HPS?

You're better off with 18/6, plants should have some time to rest but that's your choice, I agree, your bill will run $20 to $30 more a month.

Agreed. Less light is still effective and save $$$ on bill and use of bulb.

I run 2 400's 18/6 and another 4 400's 12/12 and window air conditioners to cool the rooms with two adults living in the house. The bill is around 300/month in spring and fall winter it goes down to $250/month because I don't need to cool the house. I do not grow in summer, I live in Texas and its hot as fuck. I've calculated at 12/12 each light costs about $20/month.

My 600w cost me $30 a month on 12/12, 1kw cost me $45. It depends what your electric company charges for a kwh. Here its only $.075 kwh. A 150 or 250 watt shouldnt be a huge jump in a electric bill. How many watts of cfl are you running now?

I was running 175 but now I'm only running 95 untill I get some higher wattage bulbs. Cant fit all the bulbs in my pc grow box so that's why I went down to 95.
