Yes, like I said, they were started outside and there were quite a few rainy days when they got next to no light. Some of them were burried too low and when I opened the dirt they were trapped so I freed them and planted. So they're behind, but they've all started growing really good in the past week since I got the light. I had planned to start earlier, and then didn't have the money after car troubles. I ended up just throwing some seed I had in dirt, and some of them were too low and couldn't poke through until I freed them. I would have just given up, but I figured that whatever I got would be better than nothing and I'd get to see the process before starting with good seeds.

be sure to take into account that the plants will at least double in height when put in flower unless you top it, you dont want to grow into the lights. hey groright they look great for 5 weeks, i have a little t5 that does em right also at veg

Soil? You need peat, perlite, vermiculite, looks like you may have some fine perlite? Looks dark? What's the mix? What kind? Cheers!

I keep asking this, but no one is answering. What's the benefit of topping? What does it do? Can anyone give me a quick rundown of that please?

Go here and read up a little. It helps with your yield. Unfortunately not every plant likes it.

That one's only about 6" though and will take some time. I was wondering if I should try topping them, or if there's another good technique. I'm looking for maximum yield. Hell, I'd just assume grow a single plant if I got the yield I was looking for, but I'll likely try to get more than I need so that I won't have to continuously keep lights going. Anyway, take a look and let me know what you think. They are all looking a nice dark green color, except 2 of them (2 of the biggest ones) are a little bit lighter than the rest. They don't look unhealthy or anything, just a shade lighter. Could just be a different strand as they were all seeds I collected over the years. Some mid, but mostly reg. Like I said, growing as of last week with a 1000W in soil. I've used soil and water so far. lol. I have a good fan, ducting and some other things coming soon and I'm looking into some nutrients, but may just keep this one with only water unless something goes wrong. I figure it will give me a good control, and anything I do going forward I can see the actual improvements of adding things. I'm thinking of letting them veg for another 3-4 weeks before flowering, but i'm definitely open to ideas.

P.S. How much do you think is a realistic yield assuming 3 or 4 ladies? The closet is 3x3 and 5' tall, but I will be removing the shelf which will make it 7'tall.

Meh, 1000W, 2 - 4 oz. per plant and yes topping would be beneficial for sure since the 1000W will be overkill.

I actually just topped them a little while ago, so hopefully I did it right. I know the 1000W is overkill, but I got a good deal on it, and I figured that the extra amount it costs in electricity should get made up in bud. So I'm alright with the trade off. Honestly a 600 probably would have been perfectly fine for what I'm doing, and maybe even the 400, but It's ok. I got the 1000W and it has a dimmable ballast, so I can still turn it down to 50% if I want. I'd rather be the guy growing with too big a light than someone trying to grow plants with a regular light bulb. lol. With everything I've read, the heat is the issue with it, and I'm not too worried about it. I'm pretty sure I can make the heat issue work. Winter won't be difficult. Summer will be a littler harder, but I have a AC I can use in the room too, so I don't envision it being too big of a problem. At least not anything I can't work around.
