First off, I know that none of these are the proper nutrients for a plant, but these are all I can get right now. I'm just growing a plant from some seeds I had laying around as a first grow to learn before I spend money on some good seeds. I know something like flora nova bloom would be good, but for this first grow I'm keeping it cheap.
I checked out home depot and they had these: out of these which would you say would be the best to use for flowering? miracle grow- rose plant food 18-24-16 bloom booster 15-30-15 shultzs- plant food 10-15-10 african violet 8-14-9 orchid food - 19-31-17 I'm thinking of using either the rose plant food, african violet or orchid food. Out of all of these what would you say is the best? Anyone ever use one of these with good results? |

I start out with the rose stuff for the first 3 weeks, 18-24-16, half strength, and then go to the 15-30-15, half strength, until about 1 week before harvest. I give them half strength 20-20-20 whenever the leaves yellow. I actually use some other liquid ferts now too, but used just what I told you for a while with good results. Just make sure you adjust the ph as these can be in the 4-5 range after mixed. And, always water with fresh water between fertilizing again, unless you see signs of deficiency.

Ehh slow realease is not a good option because often times it is released when you dont want it to casing nute burn... you have NO control when the nutes are activated....

I've had great results with this combo inside and out. You just follow the directions for height. ex. 1 foot plant-1 tsp Both give this formula. Make sure you water with 7.0 water, no ferts, unless you see deficiency.

Oh, and very important, I only mix the slow release ferts in the bottom half of the pot. The top half gets straight soil. The new plant actually sits on the fertilized soil, and then you finish potting with straight soil.

Yeah, flushes great. The slow release is affected by temperature and by moisture. The hotter it gets, the more is released, which coincides with the plants demand for fertilizer, ie., the plant grows faster in warmer weather. And, if you let your soil almost completely dry before watering again, the prill, which is what the slow release "shell" is called, stops releasing ferts. When I flush with fresh water, 2 to 1, flush to pot volume, the E.C. is as low as .5 . I often have to add supplemental fertilizer to the water to meet the nutrient demand. |
