Early Vegetative Pruning


After the tops come off, there's a window of opportunity to get those second-story branches to reach up to the top floor and stay there. After I've got the four main tops at the same level (more or less) and the plant is throwing growth shoots on those top branches, I'll FIM those new shoots at the top. This creates a thick canopy of bud sites at the top, and the secondary bud sites are close to the top as well. I use this method for plants that will finish flowering at about two & one-half feet. Anything shorter, like in a clone, quick turnaround garden, the FIMing should happen straight away. FIM it early (fourth or fifth leaf set) to keep it short. These seedlings were topped at the fourth node (leaf set), and FIM'd later to gain height.

I topped the plant, would be at node 3 from pic above. will post pics how it looks tomorrow. i also tried to get 2 clones, will see how that goes.

Mogie, I'm not real good with a computer. Would you possible E-Mail me that file so I can print it out and put it in my grow room. Thanx either way.

Plant is looking very well. It's been 4 days since I topped it. I moved the big fan leaves so the smaller leaves get light. Still watering 24-8-16 @ 1/4 strength.

ok but when i be able to cut the top for the first time my plants were planted feb 5 2007 and they alredy on there 4 set of leaf

Mogie, these orange crush are 4 weeks old and 14 by 14 with 10-14 bud sights each. Should I top them to create more colas? I am very interested in what you have to say. Thank you
