I keep reading that a plant will show it's sex in preflower, what is this and does anyone have any pic's of what I should be looking for? I have 9 plants and I took 19 clones from them to determine the sex but if they are already telling me what they are what do I look for?

It is when you let your plants veg long enough for them to show very small preflowers at the nodes without changing the light schedule. Depending on the strain you are growing you are looking at 6-10 weeks usually for this to happen.

Ok, Im confused. I have one plant that at the tips and the 2-3 nodes below show white hairs about 1/4 inch long then the leaves form. Does this mean it's a female? Out of 9 plant's it's the only one that is doing this. Will all the rest be male? Do the males show pollen sacks? I germinated the seeds jan 2. I cloned them 6 days ago. Any help or pic's would be greatly apperciated... Thanks Shame for your quick reply...

The one with the hairs should be a female. If the other plants havent shown yet don't worry- be patient and give them more time until they do. Every plant is different and some need more time than others.


Hairs = female
football / watermelon looking things in the spot where hairs should be = male

I hate to bother you again but I went and took these pic's. Do you see female? I looked over the plants carefully and found 3 of them with this trait. I don't know, I want to put one or 2 outside to flower in the fall so if I only have 2 or 3 female i will use them as mothers til it's warm enough outside. I want to do a sog with the clones and a scog with one of the females indoors very soon. Thanks for all your help shame.....

Looks like white haurs on the last 2 pics- I can;t quitetell on the first one. I think all three have at least one white hair.

Thanks again for sticking with my thread and answering my ?'s. If you see it in one of them then they are all female because they all show the same trait. I hope this helps others who are confused as to what preflower looks like or what it means. Props to you shame for all your help...
