Default 12/12 lighting question?

Hi guys Ive got a few babies who just entered 12/12 phase and I am curious about disturbing the pattern, can the plants growth be stunted by walking into the dark period with a low power light? what about if the electricity cuts out to the neighborhood during the 12 hour light period? will short 2, 3 minute disturbances to water/mist the plant in the dark period be useful or cause harm to the plants? I have read posts who claim things like a computer screen and lights throwing off the plants light schedule, just wondering if any REAL harm is done/any proof of this?

Yes, I cannot stress this enough. LET THERE BE NO AMBIENT LIGHT TO DISTURB THE PLANT. It's a baby, and you just don't want to wake it up. I you must mist do it a few moments before sun up, or sun down.

Too much emphasis is put by many on having 100% darkness all the time, constant room filling light or direct light is bad but having a very small low power flash light with a green lens wont harm you, just dont leave the flash light on all the time,if you must have a light on to mist your plants flick the flash light on just long enough to take aim with your sprayer then flick it off, kinda like a lightning flash just be sure to direct the light twords the ceiling & not at the plants.

Things like computer screens emit a constant light & the spectrum of light is compatable with plant life so yes they will screw your plants cycle up,power failures & such cant be helped,i'd be more worried about the lights restarting while the bulb is still hot & burning out then i would be about the effect on the plant from a power failure.

Plants do just fine in nature without 100% darkness.

I've read on the net that your plant's sex is predisposed to the elements. Plants that have total darkness in the 12/12 cycle are more likely to become female. From a person who let ambient light in and got 75% males....

I use one 13 Watt green cfl if I ever have to go in during dark, but I try to avoid doing so as much as possible.

my understanding is dark during the light period does no harm but light during the dark period is bad and to be avoided. Though i'm assuming a light as bright and for the duration of a full moon couldn't be harmful as it occurs naturally.
