ok so I'm on my first ever grow and i'm not sure if I'm making good progress or not.
I've got 5 white widow plants started in jiffy pots and this is day 9 from seed put in pods. I've got all 5 growing, with my main plant being about 3.5 inches high and starting to sprout her 3rd pair of leaves. each plant has roots coming out of the jiffy pot and is getting taller. They're stems are a reddish brown color and the leaves are somewhat drooping. I'm running 2 CFL's right now on 24/7 and 2-6 inches away from the plants. Is that too close? Maybe that's causing the droop? I was just wonderin when is the right time to plant these ladies in a bigger pot and if they're doing well so far. I know it's only been 9 days from seed, but I'm a complete newb at this and overly eager to see my babies grow haha. Please feel free to give lots of tips on what to do here. |

I'm a newbie also, so take with a grain of salt.
Droopy leaves to me says too much water. Jiffy pots? and about 3 1/2" I'd say about time to xplant. (I've herd to xplant only once, but can't comment on that) Bigger the pot, the more stable the water/moisture is (with in reason) How many lumens on the CFLs? (watts mean zip to me) pH'ing your water? I'd say xplant and wait. Best advice to us newbies is *relax* read a book, forget about the plant. Best o'luck |

thanks a lot man. I just keep wanting to check them every 10 minutes haha.
My lights are 900 lumens, and I'll be running 4 of them in my big lighting fixture. Right now though, I've got these little desk lamps that i picked up on sale for $3 each. They run CFL's, but they don't screw in, they have these little metal connects on them that slide in place. They also didn't give any information on lumens, so thats why I'm running them at like 2-6 inches away(hopefully not too close) I know they arent powerful at all, but cheap and can flex down to the height of the plants. |

Do check out the CFL sub forum!
There you will see which bulbs to choose. Warm white, cool white, day light, etc. I started my plant on a single 60W incandescent grow bulb for sprouting. Then changed to a 70W HPS for early veg, now 150W for veg. Haven't gotten to the flowering part, but about to. Thats not a planned deal. Just a evolution. The grow room/closet is coming along. I plan on using the 150W for flowering and the 70W plus a couple CFLs for veg. I was *very* impressed by the CFL only set up i saw here. (sorry, forgot the post title/author) |

wow I didn't even realize there was a CFL sub forum in the first place lol. Thanks a lot for bringing my attention to it, that should help me a ton in getting set up.
I should be planting in a larger pot on Monday or Tuesday. I ordered one of those cool Homebox contraptions and it should arrive on Monday. I'm limited on places to do this properly, so I had to improvise lol. Should I just plant all of them in larger pots, or wait for them to get a little bigger? I know my main one that is roughly 3.5in should get planted, but what about the rest? I could just do them all at the same time for the sake of convenience and keeping them at the same pace, or I could wait. And how long do you guys recommend vegging the widow? As much as I search for widow info I'm not really finding much detail on how long she takes. |

Droopy leaves aren't always over watering, the confusing part is it could happen due to under watering as well.. 2-3 inches for cfls are good, if you notice any burning of edges (could happen in as little as 2-4 hours move them away). When I have to adjust heights of cfls, I will always go back a couple hours later to make sure they aren't burning the plants.. Usually the lower leaves will yellow when it's time to transplant to a larger container.. Normally you can transplant first in about 2-3 weeks.. You will need more light, and I would add some type of substance to help aeration in your soil if you haven't already.. let me know if you need any other help.
