Best Way To Store Seeds and How Long
Since I never grew any plants in my life, I decided to start with 1 seed of each type I got rather than kill all 10 a once.
I could not really find any good info about storage so here is my question. What is the best storage method and how long will they keep? They are all females if that matters. I currently have them in the original shipping divider in a Ziplock inside a sealed Tupperware in the frig.
Thanx

any sterile, airtight container will work.
i usually use dime bags or tiny glass vials
with a proper airtight seal, in a cool place, seeds can remain viable anywhere from a few years to theoretically indefinitely

I keep mine in the fridge as per monkeybones.

Airtight container and out of the light is realy all you need. Sock draw works great.

I keep seeds in my fridge inside a sealed, wide-mouthed ball/mason jar that has 4-5 of those silica gel desiccant packets in it. They have been there for around 8 months now. Popped 5 of them back in April and they all germed so it seems to be a viable storing method. As others have stated: use a cool, dry, dark place.

Some good links on this page. The whole tread is a cool read. Not sure which page but they really talk about storage. lol, 1007 pages

If that tupperware is airtight, then you have it knocked. Should be good 10 years or more stored in fridge. Freezer lasts longer but you can not have frost free freezer. In other words, the seeds can not be allowed to thaw out and then refreeze them.
I use glass vials I got off ebay, but whatever will allow no moisture or air in, will work.

Yeah, I figured that too so I left the seeds inside their vials, covered by the breeders packaging. The free ones are in their ziplocks. I was mainly worried about any condensation that might occur. The silica beads are also still wrapped in their little teabag-like packages (they are not freely rolling). I'm hoping all these mentioned things contribute to them not doing too good of a job and drying my seeds out. Hopefully they last as long as yours.
