lift out put in new pots...its as simple as that and thats all there is to it........ over an out![]()
Sorry if there is already post about this but i am on a mobile device and dont have the time to search for the answers....
Basically a couple of my plants are only in 3 gallon pots as of now and i am going to be transplanting into 6.5 gallon pots. My question is what would be the best way to do the transplant? They are already about 2ft tall plants.. i am just looking to see if anyone has ways that work the best with a small amount of stress on the plants...
I would like to hear of a few different techniques that you prefer....
Thanks

yea .. slowly ... if it dont "let go" easily then use one hand .. flat at the soild .. with the steam inbetween your fingers (like a big fat joint) and tip it over .. can also use a butter knife at the edges if realy needed ..
make sure you have evrything ready for when you do this (I mean new pots .. with enough soild so the old top is still at the top "max a cencimeter of new soild on top) then set it on it and carefully add soild around in the sides .. dont stamp it to hard .. then water it slowly .. a few times untill you have some runn off (10%) and your done ..
note: what I like to do aswell is to add lega nuts in the bottom for extra drain as the bottom is wher rootrod and water sits .. also use em on top .. to shild the top soild so roots have more room to grow and so the water I give her dont splash the pots and to keep the water at high temps ..
I guess thats about it ..
Take my advice !! ... I dont use it anyway ...

So i can literally pull on the stem?
dont pull ...
grap the pot with one hand .. use the other .. to lay flat on the dirt .. with the steam in between your fingers .. then tip the pot over .. shake a littel to make it loose if needed ..
if that dont work and it is stuck .. use a butter knife .. use it around the edges to loose the soil/roots from the side of your pot and try agin ..
and remember to have the new pots with soild ready when you do it ..
do it gently .. and fast .. roots dont like light .. so dont let it stand on the sink for half a hour wile you add soil to your new pots ..

I watered them yesterday morning. Should i wait till they dry out more? I also just topped them. Should i wait so there isnt so much stress at one? Thanks for the reply btw
best to do it when the soil is moist but not soaked and heavy
hold it by the dirt as well as the stem while moving it into the little hole you have prepared in the new pot
if it's a cheap pot and you have trouble getting it out without harming the roots, don't take a chance, cut the pot down the side with some wire clipper or something and get it out that way
thanks everybody for the input
