Hey all,
This my very first grow and all has been going well. No idea what kind the girls are but they are lime green with white hairs?...I was wrestling with cutting some fan leaves off to "let more light through" and eventually yesterday morning, I did. I would NEVER do this again. Yes, I just read up on the posts of whether or not to cut fan leaves off. A buddy told me awhile ago that ANY plant use leaves to gather their nutrients, light, etc. Nevertheless, I probably cut 50-60% of the fan leaves off whilst leaving a very good amount of skinnier leaves. Basically, I cut everything that wasn't growing in an upright 45 degree angle to the main stalk. The girls are ok and still very healthy lookin' but wished I hadn't. These are my first plants and wasn't sure. Anyway, my newbie ass has pretty much figured and correct me if I'm wrong that, the plant produces 2 stems off the main stalk. One stem is for the Fan leaf which, feeds the 2nd stem which, is the bud stem? Thinkin' I f'd up my production because the buds that grow right off the stem, are probably not going to produce...Is there ANYTHING a PRO recommends I can do to help offset this dumbass move?...

you will be surprised in about 5 days or so, growth explosion.
I trim at 14 days of flower. But not that much. And the smaller ones you left will step up in about 5 days or so.

Ouch man, but as someone has already said, you can't fix stupid.
I doubt you will lose anything in production, might increase it. To take all that off in a day is extreme so the plant will stall for a few days. I have done the same and got plenty of bud. I now only take leaves if necessary and not all at once.
Wetdog was a little ruff but listen to him!
Leaves produce buds...when they are no longer needed they fall off.
Buds dont produce buds leaves do...why do peole cut off leaves to get light to the buds?LOL
EDIT Dont cut any more leaves and you will be OK...learn from this.

yea learn from it ..
but also learn to get good info and read a few guids/threads about stuff before you get crazy with the scissors or similar ...
dont jump in to things .. do the research and if in doubt .. ask in here ...
if I remove fan leaves .. it is the one that tutch the soil or is close .. maybe a few that is realy in the way/blocking ..
but not many .. in total max 5% and not at once .. not a expert .. actualy I need to learn more about prouning and be more thorough ..
oppersite to you .. I dont like hurting/stressing my plants

I think its a fine line between a good (storage) leaf and a leaf that robs energy in one form or another. Knowing which ones and when is key to not stressing the girl to much when removing.
Lollipopping is a good example of controlled pruning that works surprisingly well.
