A simple but effective grow room. Help!

Mine's a little 4x4 area that's 6.5 feet high and it's just my little veg room with a 400 watt MH. I wish I had 600 because I like to just veg out a few plants and flower them. A 400 watt will definitely be enough for 6 plants, however if you have a tall enough room you might consider having 4 plants in larger pots. This way there's less plants competing for the light and they have a larger root mass, but that's just my preference. As everyone else has said, more light is always better (with proper ventilation of course) but a 400 watt will be perfect.

What will definitely help for not only ventilation but temp control is to get yourself a little window AC and connect a duct from it to the box. This way you can not only maintained constant temps with a solid intake/outtake system but you'll be able to bring your HID lights pretty close to your girls without consequence. They're very expensive new but if you get one used you can find them for like $40-50 bucks, well worth the money. As long as you're maintaining good ventilation and constant temps that the girls like you'll be fine, your set up sounds good.

a carbon filter do sounds like a good idea tho

fist few weeks was ok .. did only smell a littel .. but after 6 weeks mine (2 kush plants) did smell A LOT !!! (like realy bad male cat piss)
and they was`t even flowering ... so make sure you have a nice ventilation with a carbon filter on .. boath for odour and temps./fresh air/Co2

I had slightly problems with heat "84-86F"

(runn a 600W HPS without cool tube in a 7x3 feet room .. also 8 feet to seailing)

dont have AC or anyway to mount one ..
but got nice temps outside and have a passiv intake over my window .. so mountet some tubes and a small fan (half the power as the out take) for some fresh/cool air .. and it works pretty well (80-82F)

ooh yea .. incase you did wonder .. afer I got my filter/ventilation the odour was more or less gone after ½ a hour .. after two I couldnt smell anything atall .. best buy .. as importent as the light ..

and sure 400W is good .. but if you could get a 600W for allmost the same ammount I would go for it .. for 6 plants .. specialy if your plan on buying one with a cooltube (may I suggest you do .. I did`t )

if you got good hight (and dont want to build a shelf) you could go with high plants ..stavia maybe .. then a 600W would be great .. as the lights can penetrait furter ...

just dont know if the ventilation you have is big enough for your space/600W HPS .. how much CFM/M3 is it on ?
