Exclamation First sprout curling over...not sure what the problem is.

So, I just planted some Roadrunner Auto two days ago. I am only doing one seed, as this is my first grow and I am trying to get a feel for things. I planted the seed directly into a jiffy peat pellet, and it sprouted today. The only problem is that the sprout is curling into a 'U' shape and facing the ground . The shell was completely cracked off from the cotyledons. I read on here that it could be that I didn't plant the seed deep enough. If that is the case, how can I plant it deeper since I am using a peat pellet? could there be any other problems?

your best bet is to stake it up and get some good light on it so it dosent stretch anymore

Sprouts emerge from the ground doubled over in a "u" shape and then straighten themselves up towards the light and spread out their cotyledons.

alright, thanks guys. I figured it was pretty normal. do you think a 55W cfl is enough for the one plant?

you should definitely get some more light on that plant as it grows. if your only growing one plant add 23-26w cfls pointing directly at it from different angles periodically as it gets larger. Try to keep it surrounded by direct light and you will grow a nice little bush. Even if you flower early, you should have at least 5 23w cfls plus your 55w on it when it is full grown.
