    Default flushing question

please don't make fun of me... i know this must be a stupid question, but if someone could just explain it to me... please?

i'm going to flush my plants within the next few days before i put them into flower, and i'm just curious... how does giving a plant all that water not kill it? when i give my plants too much water now, they get a little droopy, so if i'm giving them twice the pot size, how do they live???

Well, most plants will show some issues after flushing...which is why the only reason you should flush is if you know for sure that you have added too many chemicals, or the wrong ones...I have found that a very indica plant that likes a lot of nutes should just be put in flower....but a more sativa plant that doesn't handle nutes well will benefit from a nitrogen free time before flower...I give 2 waterings with plain water before flower....so 2 dry cycles...which is pretty close to 2 weeks...the plants need watered about every 4-5 days...so I water them with water and wait for them to dry...then I water with water again...and wait for them to dry...then I water them and put them in flower...the next watering they will get some bloom nutes, maybe...lol
I apologize for my incessant rambling, but if you are patient there is inner hidden wisdom in most of my posts...Like playing literary "Where's Waldo."--------------- See, it's fun!

I think the people who flush them use a lot of perlite or other medium so that they get quick drainage. If your just using soil and have poor drainage then flushing may not work properly for you.

You don't need to flush because you are switching to flower.
Flush your plants if there is a problem or if you are going to harvest.

this is our first grow, so we're learning as we go. these comments are very much appreciated! they are just in miracle gro soil, and we've been using miracle gro nutes. i agree that perhaps we don't have the proper drainage to do a flush... so the suggestion is just to use plain water for a few waterings, put the into flower... but then i'll still need to flush before harvest right? will i need to transplant so i have better drainage??

in my experience, a "not to big" of a flush, when u put em into flower wont hurt. as long as you have good draining soil. this removes the salts from veg nutes, and gets ready for the new flower nute. only water the last three weeks, and flush daily the last seven.

imo that miracle grow soil has time release nutes and will feed the plant everytime you water. so a flush may help but yet it may hurt by feeding more nutes.

if your plants look fine, then just go into flower without a flush.
