To Top or not to Top....
Hello,
Ive been doing some research and have concluded my plant is to tall and too spindly. Should i consider topping my plant to stunt its growth so it grows outwards more? and if so where should i do it? As you can see in the picture 20120423_165346.jpg20120423_165425.jpg20120423_165437.jpgthe lower leaves are small and all over the place whilst at the top the leaves are big and have very long branches. The stem is thin and very flexible, i feel its all out of proportion! I used the LST method for a day which definitely helped the lower section of the plant but still theres a large gap between nodes and the plant has become very messy (growing in all directions). My final question relates to the second picture ive uploaded. One of the leaves ( and even then its only on one of the blades) has gone very limp and thin. Ive been using a water sprayer to water them and giving them 5 - 6 sprays in the morning. For fert im using Indonesian bat guano mixed with water, but have only does this a few times so far. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
thank you
p.s Im growing it in coco too

Is there anything in the water that you foliar with? Do you have a fan blowing on the plant to increase its stalk strength? Small/young plants sometimes act weird as teens. What Lighting do you use? What does your feeding schedule look like? What is the RH of your grow space?
It was all a dream. I frequent many forums that are unrelated to my business, work and hobbies. I have no affiliation with cannabis.

Yh im using a fan on it to increase the stalk strength and so far i haven't put anything in the water when foliar feeding. Im feeding it with guano tea and add it to the normal watering schedule once every 2 - 3 days in a weak solution ( 2 tblespn per gallon of water). As for lighting, im using a very basic light at the moment but ive only had her for a week. Before this my mate had it in a room with other plants with a 600 watt hps.....and I think the light was too high cause it looks stretched. I am looking to get a 250 watt hps in the next 24 hours.... Ive been offered a 600 watt but i think thats to much for one plant and i have no ventilation minus opening the door of the wardrobe and a window of the room its in and letting the air circulate lol. To be honest its a very basic set up in a wardrobe with foil lining the inside. And your gonna have to expand on RH dude i dont know what it stands for :/

i would pull the poor plant up.. if you cant get the minimum things for a proper grow then you prolly shouldnt grow at all. just sayin.

All good bro, we'll get you to where you want to be with this grow.
-The lamp was definitely too high then IMO. I have a 600w HPS running as we speak and I could definitely see how she;d get leggy from that.
-I'd see if you can get a 250w HPS/MH interchangeable, that way you can switch the bulbs, which will add some life to your bulbs and also use the Metal Halide for Veg, then switch to HPS for bloom.
-The heat for anything higher than 250w will be a big issue for you if you choose to go with 400w or higher
-Take the foil down in the wardrobe, I know it was probably a pain to put up, but it offers very little reflection and has a nasty habit of holding pockets of heat/cold. You can get a few long rolls of Mylar, which is MUCH more reflective and better with heat, cold, spills, humidity etc.
-RH is relative Humidity, you can get a cheap thermometer with a humidity tester for less than $10.
Lemme know if this helps,

Definately helpful man thank you. Im gonna get everything sorted tomorrow for it. It all happened a bit quickly so i had little time to prepare a set up. I guess the final question is whether i should top it or not?

no need to top ....just lst her closer to the pot almost a circle....and it will start to grow again but it will be much shorter and it will bush out again.
keep up the feeds and give a good amount of water until it comes out the bottom, so that it saturates the soil though out the pot...let soil dry out...repeat.
