Default Amp usage!!!
in this book it says

Grow Lights use approx 250w=1.3 amps, 400w=2.4 amps, 600w=3.2 amps, 1000w=5 amps!!! is this right i swear my 600w uses 13 amps!!!

no clue. maybe the light itself uses 3.2 amps and then the ballast uses the rest of it? just a guess

i think thats at 240 volt, i know that a 1000 uses 9.5 or so at 110v, my 600 is rated at 5.4 amps

Yea, fatsam probly has it there. My 600 is rated at 5.6. They should be stamped on the casing anyway. Don't trust some book that generalizes.

power = current X voltage

600 = current(110)
current = 5.5

But of course,this is simple circuits, there are many other factors involved.

Your electric is sold by the killowatt hour, and a killowatt hour is just that, roughly a single kw light on for an hour = 1kw/hr

Whether that's 220 or 110 or at what current doesn't matter.

If you're trying to figure this out to see how many lights will go on a circuit just use the amps on the label for the input voltage you're using.
