Default A Word About Bag Seed

Many new, and even not so new to growing will get pulled in by all the relatively recent seed bank hype. The main advantage to seed banks is you can be more certain of what you're getting and good quality seeds are readily available online or thru dispensaries. But that doesn't mean that bag seed is plain inferior to what's available from the banks. Granted, it's harder to find really good ganja, hooch, KGB, etc. these days that has viable seeds. And seeds from schwag will grow schwag, since genetics makes up most of whether you'll wind up with something wonderous- or worthless. My real point is for years I grew some plenty dynamite smoke from bag seed that would stand up to anything around today. In 1999 my buddy came across a 1/4 of some really good no name buds that had a few seeds, and a unusual pheno out of the group of resulting plants turned out to be an outrageous 45 day beauty that was some of the best stuff I've ever had- ever! So don't knock the bag seed till you've tried it.

I figure with how much I have invested in my system, and how much work I put into it, using bag seeds is like putting used tires on a new car.

I buy the best seeds and the same strain from the same breeder. That way I know I have it dialed in and the grow becomes almost automatic.

However if you like surprises and are up for an adventure, bag seed is one way to get them both.

Let's not forget the strains that supposedly came from bagseed... joint of Chemdawg anyone? That said, I like to know the genetics I'm growing and what I can expect you just don't get that luxury with bagseed.

I don't think there is anything wrong with bag seed. The problem is that around my way most really good weed doesn't have any seeds in it, so your stuck using seeds from shitty weed. I had only used bag seeds up until this current grow, but I am happy as hell to be able to pick what strain that I wanted to grow.

youd have something to smoke and would be grown to its full potential.... some places like texas some poeple dont smoke homegrown or anything like that regularly so badseed in texas is pretty good and could sell or smoke for really good. but if you got seeds from a seed bank it would be outstanding to smoke but i find ppl sellin really good grown bagseed in texas too often and people dont really care about anything with a name tag on it. youed come around to figuring some numbers for the bud you have grown but in terms of quality and what youed find bagseed aint half bad. ive spent money on seeds only once got regular seeds and am thinking of buying femenized seeds instead to reduce my grow space and time i spend caring for these plants... so i suggest if your going to buy seeds buy femenized will save you allot of time amongs other things...

Femenized seeds should be pretty good, they have figured out how to do that since 99' where on 2012 thats like 13years to figure the process to be perfect...

The points you make were part of what I had said. But there really is not so much gamble or surprises if you happen to have- yes, happen to have come across some dank with a few seeds that will sprout. My original point was that at one time everything was bag seed. And what's around today isn't really so much better as many have come to believe. Genetic superiority with cannabis breeding has been around for centuries.

I still say that alot of what comes from the banks today is little more than pumped up names and hype relatively. Sure, banks make quality genetics more available and reliable for those who want to know what they're dealing with up front. Nothing at all wrong with that. I'm all for the banks being around and have ordered from a few of them myself. But the occasional sack of da' killz that has some seeds in there can produce some amazing plants that just might be better or produce that one-of-a-kind pheno that you might not get from a seed bank. In fact it's those rare occuring phenos that pop up sometimes, bank or bag seed, that can be the most outstanding and memorable.

yeah, in some places you would only be able to find bagseeds off of cheap brick chunk for 25 a half. but some places like the emerald triangle people would find great phenos off of 99plants they can grow... and thats pretty insane that they can grow 99plants or 100ft of it...
