I bought a bulb only and it says I need a ballaster. Can someone tell me the hookup I need to put the bulb in? I am looking into growing 4-5 plants with this one bulb. Any tips will be appreciated.

so why would you just buy a bulb. anyway if you go to your local hardware store you can buy a hps porch light that comes with the bulbits only about 175 watts but if you buy two it should do the job i went when they were on sale and i bought two for fourty dollars so shop around dont just buy the bulb anymore it a waste of money

If you have a choice a hps is ideal but mh does fine. So many people talk about how the buds are always fluffy and light with mh but I am flowering with a 400w mh now and they are nice and dense. They are at week 7 flowering and are starting to turn colors now so about the takes too long thing.... A lot of stuff on this site gets read from other posts and not personal expiriences.

I have personal expirience Ive tried a mh look at my treads you will see my expiriece.

i could never use anything but an MH for vegging,
but when it comes to flowering HPS is the way to go,

Metal Halide is used to veg, mainly becuz of the blue color spectrum it has. it is supposed to replicate the sun early in summer when the plants are vegging. HPS is supposed to replicate the harvest sun....orange color spectrum. i have flowered under MH before....did the job just fine for me.

seriously? i have MH and didnt know it took longer, whast the alternative, HPS or LPS?
