Hey everyone, I have a quick question. I have a few dwarves and 2 bigger plants (not sure of species, they were an experimental grow out of seeds found in pot, ones a female for sure tho...)

So here are my questions:
1. Can a plant be cloned during the flowering process? Or does it stress it too much?
2. can dwarves be successfully cloned? (seeing as theyre only like 5 inches tall and budding)
3. Whats the optimal location/length to cut for cloning? ( I assume for technique I can look at the FAQ's and check out the subject on cloning on how to properly care for them after).


I added a few pics to show you my plants and you can tell me if I should bother, because I would like to have a few more plants. (the taller one doesnt have any major buds, just like 4 hairs on two of the node/bud sites..there are 2 pics of that plant, one of the bushier one (which i fear may be a male) and one of one of the dwarves..).

I dont see any buds in your pics so you should be ok cloning. And I always flower mine just enough to show sex before I clone. When I cut clones I cut about an inch above one of the intermediate nodes. What I mean is you have stems coming off of the main stalk. Well they have nodes on them aswell for more bud sites. So about an inch above the node on the side stem. If you need more clarification there is a video on youtube where a guy shows how he clones.

could you post a link to it? Just so i am looking at the same one you're thinking of...So I should be using side branches to clone??? How big do they need to be?

Wait...so judgin by my pics, are any of them big enough(other than the dwarf)to be cloned? the taller one is about 9-10 inches tall..

also you wouldnt have a quick link to the vid would you? (there are prolly tons of vids on youtube about cloning).

You may want to wait to clone or better yet if you want to clone,, top your plant wait a couple weeks for the stems to get long enough then clone, you can take clones 2-3 inches long and they should work fine,,, as for the site just punch in you tube then punch in cloning, thats it.........................

not really much to take cuttings from, but i guess if you really wanted to, u could take cuttings from the top of each plant.

id wait until the side shoots pop out a bit.

thanks BBA....thats what I was thinking...does topping stunt upwards growth??

only for about 3 or 4 days,, not stunt just slowed down,, but then you will have 2 tops and more to clone...................................... ..............

Ok so if I post a picture (as I have below), can you maybe use paint to show me exactly where to make a cut for topping and at what angle?? (i have razor blades which i will sterilize).Thanks!

BTW the advice you give me absed on the pic below, can I apply it to any strain of plant? Like are all cannabis family plants topped the same way? And topping during budding is a bad idea right?

One more thing...should I toss this plant onto 12/12 lighting? Its a female but it has itty bitty little hairs (like 4 on each node).

those are not the hairs your lookin for to show sex,, put in 12/12 and wait 1 or 2 weeks then post pics.....
