EC Meter reading ??

Hi Geezers, ive got a HM EC3 meter, thats about it really, !! what reading am i looking for, my plants have just gone under hps and the reading is 997 ? whats sposed to happen next then, :wall: im not that thick but not a scientist either so any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers buddies :-P

so your PPM are 997...of what? Your tap water? Your nutrient water? You in hydro or soil? Runoff tested? Mixed some soil up with some kool-aid? All jokes aside...we need more info as to what you are growing in, what the sizes of things are(pots,etc), what stage of life your plant is in...etc...you provide that, and we can provide you with answers :)

I assume you are talking about your nutes.
I believe your meter converts @ .5. (NaCl). That means that your EC would be about 2.0.
What you are looking for depends on what your plants want.
997 ppm @ .5, or 2.0 EC is not a bad place to be for flowering. Personally, I rarely go higher than that but it all depends on your growing method.
EC or TDS is important but PH is probably more critical. If your PH is not in range they can not use all of the nutes you give them due to lockout.

massah, hello geezer, hydro grow, nutrient water reading of ppm, plants 3 weeks old, 4 sets leaves, strong, thing is the info i found says i should be reading optimum 1.6 ? and .. if its not what then, im following reccomened amounts nutes, any help cheers

this is a rough guide what you ppm should be through your grow use the charts to convert it into ec.
Seedlings, Early Sprouts 100 to 250
Early Vegging 300 to 400
Full Vegetation 450 to 700
Early Blooming 750 to 950
Full Mature Blooms 1000 to 1600
