Default confused lumens
i am alittle confused i am shopping for flowering lights and i read a guide that said flour were fine to flower with but is it true because my uncle thinks what matters is the lumens is what is most important about the lights not the watts so should i use different lights for flowering?

halogens dont produce the proper spectrum, i don't believe.

lumens and spectrum is what you want to look for, you want to get more lumens per watt of electrcity used. you want to go by both... thats the best answer i can give..

think of it this way, do you want a light that uses 1000watts of elec and puts out 5000 lumens.. or a CFL thats 42 watts that puts out 2900.. the answer is obvious. with enough Compact Floros you can flower good, the tubes will give you a bad yield. an HPS is more desirable, but it gives off heat, and costs more. but a 400w hps puts out 50,000 + lumens.

You want a more blue spec for vegging, and orange/red spec for flowering. white both can work all the way through, those give the most optimal results

While the lumens measurement is based on the sensitivity of the human eye to light, PAR Watts objectively measure the total watts of Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) emitted by the lamp. It accounts for the nutritional value and is a direct measure of light energy available for all-important plant photosynthesis.
