Ok so yesterday I bought all the materials I need to make my rubbermaid grow box ....i think .....haha cant really find a site or info step by step on how to build this so im goin off like 5 sites. materials i bought:

2 22 gallon rubbermaid roughneck containers
2 3 pks of 26 watt cfl bulbs
2 18" light fixtures
6 rolls of aluminum tape
1 extension cord
electrical tape
wire cutters

Im still in the construction stage..... step 1 is putting the aluminum foil tape and covering the entire insides of both 22 gallon bins.

What I wanna know is this:

has anyone done this before?
is it a good method for first time grower?
is peat a good starter for seeds??

and id really like a detailed step by step, idiots guide (lol im not joking) on how to make this grow box work....anyone thats done it PLEASE HELP!!!cry:

lots of grow journals document different grows/style of growing.

i just picked up the seemorebuds book too (Buds for less: grow 8oz of bud for less than $100) - he is using CFLs

At first I was wondering why you would by 6 rolls of aluminum tape when a big roll of mylar would be better and cheaper. I was wondering why you would need 2 tubs and why you were only using 6 CFL's. After looking at the setup I understand. It's a very sweet looking setup; I only wish he had followed up with a grow journal to see if it really worked out for him. 150 watts isn't much light and from what I read in the thread it got into the 90's in the box - not bad in the winter but during the summer that's going to be a problem unless you have it in an AC'd room.

I would suggest painting the inside white instead of mylar/tape. I am using tubs also and the mylar is very difficult if not impossible to install completely flat. I just harvested and I am tearing my box down to remove the mylar and going to paint it. If you have not already seen it, the nicest one I have seen on this site is from Jethro, just search for it and you should find it.
