How does a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer work?

Hey M8's!!! I'm curious how this device can measure indoor/outdoor temps and why it has two readouts while in my indoor growroom? Here's what it says right now... 78.2F indoor and 81.3 outdoor but why is it giving me an outdoor reading that is higher than it's indoor? I'm assuming I go by the indoor readout but I just wanna know how this contraption works. Thanks for reading my question and hopefully you can tell me what is up, PEACE :peace:

there is one sensor on the unit itself, and one attached to that long wire leading from it. You can use that to get temperature readouts for two locations in the room (one down low near the intake and one up near the lights). Hope this helps!

Ahhh gotcha, thanks! So my actual temp in my room where my plants are ( because I have the cord hanging right at plant height) is 81. That explains it well, so some people keep the box inside and string the cord outside... never even thought of that hehe

perhaps combining the two temps and dividing by two would give a more accurate idea of the average temp in the room also, due to alot of air moving around in there...
