Question first time grow room, tips welcome!!!

hi, im new to this site, and marijuana cultivation in general. After years of smoking i decided i had had enough of the sprayed/ glassy shit that was coming through, so thought i would give it a go, i went and purchased a 2mtr/w x 2mtr/h x 1mtr/d grow tent or "budbox", with this i have 2x 6oow HPS lamps, a 6" intake fan and a 8" exhaust fan complete with carbon filter. im not sure of the type of system, either ebb and flow or NFT. My growing medium is of 3" rock wool cubes, layed on top of spreader matt. the reason i am confused as to what type of set up it is is that when the pump starts running, the channels become flooded with water, rather than the shallow, flowing chanels of all other NFT setups i have seen. anyway. i started of from clones, i have all the correct equipment for reading PH levels and EC levels etc.... here is my current situation.....

they have been in flower now for about 10 days i believe, the white hairs are getting longer and the plants are looking very healthy, im giving them 12/12 and they get watered by 2/3rd strength nutes ( i am currently using cannas aqua flora) and they get watered for half hour every 2 hours, i think this is too much but it seems to work. i also add a little H2O2 once a week aswell, i also purchased a small air pump to increase oxygen in the water but i now think this is pointless as natural airation occurs wherever the water surface meets the air, but i let it run anyway as to cause a bit of desturbance in the water and keep it moving to avoid stagnation.

the plants are huge and force a big smile everytime i open the tent, i have deffinitly caught the bug!

    my concerns are.......

1- the humidity level when lights are on is around 38% (i believe it should be around 50%?)

2- the temprature at the top of the plants reaches highs of 98F, the leaves are not burning but i am worried that if i dont resolve the problem, yield and THC levels may be decreased by the heat. it normally sits around the 95F mark, BTW, my lamps are currently about 1.5 feet away from the top of the TALLEST plant (the rest are not far behind)

3- one of the smaller plants has started to develope yellow dots all on the lower leaves, im not fussed about correcting it, just want to know if i should pull it.

The temprature used to sit at a steady 78F and humidity was always dead on 50%, this all changed after i had a massive algai problem, i was not given any covers for the chanel tray and the spreader matt was constantly in full view of direct light ( i now know how dumb this was), i managed to remove most of the spreader matt and cleaned the whole system, before laying new matt, covering it all over and running a week with half strength veg nutes and as much H2O2 as i was allowed. after this week the plants were healthier than ever, and i began the flowering stage. i left them in full darkness for 36hrs before turning on the 12/12 cycle. the biggest is now 28" high and is bullying the other plants of preccious light, its not a crowded room, but i do have 9 plants. EC levels are kept at a constant 1.5, and PH levels kept at 6.

4- i am also very concerned about smell, the carbon filter doesnt seem to do anything and i have recently been looking at ozone.... do UV lights work to degrade smell aswell as increasing THC levels by transforming CBC or CBN to THC? (sorry if this is wrong but u know what i mean) or is this a myth? i was also looking at ozone generators but not sure what route to take.

i currently have no extra fans in the tent blowing on the plants as i heard this ruins the oxygen exchange? but i really need to cool them down.... the leaves are not burning like i say but this temp is no good.

Anybody with any help on any subject will be highly appreciated! i will upload photos very soon as i would love some feedback on the setup, health of plants etc, and generally just to show off :P

    Thanks alot guys, peace.

It sounds like you have a decent set up but your temps concern me.

    What cfm is your exaust?
Do you have alot of duct work after your fan?
    Something maybe set up wrong.

Yes that is correct and I tried to do the same thing but the problem is you still need to have odor control even when the lights are off. So you cant have your ozone on only durring lights on. I ran into the same problem and wanted to do the same thing. I was going to mount my ozone bulb inside my hood so it would shine down on my plants but still needed it on when lights went out. So if you come up with a idea im all ears.

CFM? sorry like i say this is all new to me ! i have about 15mtrs of ducting after the exhaust fan but the tent always seem to 'suck in' rather than blow out, so i know the expelsion is greater than what is being introduced into the tent. the cool air is blown directly in at the top of the tent at one side, the exhaust and filter is located at the top on the other side... i figured hot air rises so it wouldnt halm to have them both high up (i set this tent up with no instructions so really need to get these pics up for you to see if anything is wrong)

as for the UV... i was thinking about maybe a ozone genorator outside the tent running for half hour every hour, and having the UV inside the tent come on and go off in the same cycle as my current 12/12.... i just wanted to be sure that ozone wont really harm my plant and that it will increase the production of other chemicals to THC acid.

thankyou for replying though! really really appreciate

    1. Don't worry about your low humidity level. The lower the level, the less chance of bud rot. You should be more concerned about the humidity level when the lights are off.

    2. I'm surprised your temps are that high with an 8" extractor fan. I suggest either buy another fan to add, or buy air cooled reflectors.

    3. Yellow leaves are usually a sign of some kind of deficiency. No need to pull it.

    4. I find it strange that you have smell emanating from your grow, considering it's in a tent and you have a carbon filter with an 8" fan. Or do you mean it smells when the lights and fan are off?

Post a pic of your set up. A picture is worth a thousand words and all that.

if i understood, what you said is that, your blowing air from the top, and your also sucking the warm air out fromt he top , am i correct? if yes, then ofc its not working, put the new air duct comign into the tent, from the bottom , not right beside the fan pushign the air out ..

    help this helps

    thanks for youre input....

I cant check the humidity when lights are off as i dont want to open the tent during its dark time, and i am never around when 'dusk' comes, this is something i will do over the weekend.

Do you think i should add another intake fan or extractor?

Or just some normal domestic fans circulating in the tent?

I rented a new flat specifically for the grow, and when i enter the flat the whole place reeks of cheese and lemon, they are only 2 weeks into flower and i cant believe how much they stink. The air flowing into the tent comes from the room the tent is in, it then gets extracted through the filter and through 15mtrs of 8" ducting, im using proper centrifugal fans, and they run constantly, day in day out.

I would extract the hot air straight outside but given the area this is not possible... Id have the filth knocking within a day.

Im working on getting the pics up but the site doesnt seem to be compatible with iPad, this will be done by the weekend.

should i bring the col air through at the bottom of the tent then? Cos there were no holes big enough for my ducting there, and if i done this it would just blow straight under the plants in the channel (as they are raised to allow the solution to drain straight back into the res) and i heard it was naughty to blow straight over the crop, so i just cut the ducting where it enters the tent so it kinda just flows around the tent, the fans are extremely powerfull. The extracter IS located at the top, but on the other side, 2mtrs away, but air flow in is good, i dont think it would be sucking all my cool air straight out.... I think it may be the problem that i am sourcing my cool air just outside of the tent, if i could get this from outside i think this may solve my issue.... Thanks for youre input though! I know pictures will help and i am working on this!
