hi i already know about trihcomes and everything but was wondering if anyone could give me a pointer as to tell when a plant has entered it's harvest window without going to the trouble of getting out the magnifier. I'm growing outside and i've managed to get some great results in vegetation and at the start of flowering, but i always forget the magnifier when i check the plants  lmao!!

You can keep track of how many weeks they've been in flowering. I've been told most plants finish in 8-10 weeks, but don't quote me. Maybe you can put the glass in some type of bag and leave it with your plants so you won't forget it next time.

Alot of people dont even check trichs, keep watching the bud growth and when the hairs get brown and start to recede and you see the buds stop swelling its pretty much time to pick. plus the buds will begin to get an amber sheen to them too.

agree with fuzzy...

Watch for the hairs to pull back into the bud, and yes, it changes appearance and has an amber look to it.. it just looks different. Once you see it, you will know.

Fdd's got a sticky on when it's ready for harvest, and it's pretty easy to follow, and explained well... check the stickies in the harvesting section.

yeh just look for brown hairs or discoloration from white depending on strain. You could always buy a 5 dollar 30x microscope from amazon and look at the trichomes seeing if their milky white or brown. I harvest on brown.

i dont quite agree with some of the above, with most indica dominant plants which most of us grow due to shorter bloom times and general short plants ! if indica then shaz1 go for the orange/brown hairs and purchase a 30x microscope for the trichomes as the majority of us i think prefer some amber trichomes ! they start off clear then go milky then amber. if you go with milky and say 30 percent amber i think you shall not be disapointed. these things after all are a preferance ! amber trichs ive read and (felt) have higher cbd/cbn content for that relaxed chillout effect ! shaz1 if your growing pure sativas ask someone with the experience and alot more knowledge than i cause i do not have experience. i like shorter times and the relaxed effect the majority of the time !
one thing i will say is dont be too eager as a shit load of resins build up in the final weeks. ive found that advertised 8 weekers take 9 to 9n a half but thats my experience and isnt necessarily the same for everyone i dont think anyways ???????
