1000 watt Bulb with 600 watt Digital Ballast? Could it Work?

Thats not a good Idea there is a reason why they match ballast watt with bulb watt. If you have a 400w you can put a 430w in an hps ballast. Or Digital ballast where they have a 1000w max and dimmable to 600w and 400w with the 1000w bulb. But to put a 1000w into a 600w ballast, pry wont work or could blow up in your face or burn your house down if you left it running.

I do believe that some folks are talkin out their asses on this one...Variable output ballasts ie; 75%, 50% etc. A 1000 watt ballast driven at 50% = 500 watts...etc
If anything the bulb would fail to strike. I have done it when the situation called for it. But if you do not have a sound understanding working with electricity then do not risk it....period.
I took the ignitor out of a 600 hps magnetic to run a 1000 mh bulb in a pinch one time.
