Default How do you properly mix nutes? Im totally lost!
I am totally confused on how your suppost to mix nutes. Ive read so many conflicting guides.

Some say to mix your additives, then add your base to the point that you reach your desired PPM. Some say to mix your base, then mix in your additives, then either add more water or more of your base to reach your desired PPM. Some say to adjust PH after all your nutes are mixed. Some say to adjust PH right off the bat, then mix your nutes, then adjust your PH again. Which is the proper method?

Im going to use Advanced Nutrients, but not their entire 2+ line I cant afford it. So I cant really use their calculator since you arent able to subtract any products from it. It only works if your using everything thats running down the side of the
calculator. Should I follow the calculator for the additives I am going to use, then make up the difference in PPM with more base? Or should I follow the base measurment and make up the difference in extra additves?

Everyone says to cut AN's recommended measurments by 1/2 or even 3/4 to start until you get a feel for your plants tolerance. But Im wondering if that reduction guideline is meant for the light feeding, medium feeding, or heavy feeding chart? And do you cut all the AN products your using by 1/2 to 3/4, or just the base nutrient?

I understand the concept of proper PPM levels. Im just totally confused on how you go about reaching those proper levels with the 3-5 products you have in front of you when the only chart provided by the manufacturer has 17 freaking products on it that when mixed accordingly will give you a PPM of XXX.

I know that for the most part manufacturer feed charts are BS, meant only as a general starting point. Im just using this scenario to get my frustration across.

Please help. Thanks.

Thats advance nutrients for you, they pull you in with all these promises and then hit you with the fact you gotta buy another 10 bottles of stuff just to make what you already bought work.

Follow the golden rule - read the instructions on the label for the brand of nutrients you purchased.

Remember there are sooooooooo many opinions out there about nutrients. Keep in mind most of the time you're reading about someone else's experience. Your grow experience is unique

I found that shopping for too much information will cause you to second, third guess and become confused. The answers are on the label.

Hope that helps.

so if you have a few different kinds of nutes laying around?
can you try different variations?, and add different ones till you find one thats, not too strong. and works well. through trail and error. more error?.lol but thats how i seem to learn. if you know what i mean.
or will one kind of food, serfice.?.
i have-
bio buzz
terra flos and substra flos both a and b.
m grow
baby bio.
and i also make my own food, all mushed up dead leafs/plants, mix. letf in a dark dustbin for a while then strain and feed. dont know how good it works but its not harming them`
i dont use these all the time every other water, but i mix them about, with different mixes, on different plants, i write it all down. what ive give.
ive just started this with 5 different plants all 2 week into flower and some 3 week.
but ive also got another 7 vegging and another 6 vegging, but i dont really feed , till 2 weeksvegg only once a week.
for vegg i have substra vegg flos and terra flos vegg both a and b.
m.grow
baby bio
out of the foods i have ?. can anyone suggest, a feeding reg, that would be really strong and good for flowering, without burning/over feeding my plants. im scared when i add food now, im well tight. after my first grow, i well over fed. and every leaf on every 4 plants . had nute burn and also had food build up growing under every fan leaf, and even the main stalk.
i washed/flushed used epsom saits, put more pebbles in the bottom if the pots. added more soil ect. but id fed em too much. and dont ever want that to happen again.
they were some good clones id got too. venus f2 hybreds, they all also went hermie, but i had to chop after 10 weeks 12/12 because ,of the build up of food. plus i wanted a freash start.
and 1 im feeding for an exp. urine. ive used this as a food before and it works well and doesnt smell. here are 3 plants i only fed urine as an exp. every other time i vegged fron 2 week and every other time i watered when 12/12. in the last few week i added bio buzz. bu only about 6 times. and the plants seemed fine, i also added bloodbone meal to the soil.
heres some pics of the plants i fed urine to prove it works.
im now on grow no 5. and have been doing the growing thing, for 10 months now. but im not getting 2 1000 like i want. till i feel 100% confident, that i can do it.
here is the plants fed on urine pics. sorry for the s.a

I go by the directions on the bottle and I am never bothered with ppm meter. And once I feed the babies I document how h=much and how they responded.

good luck

advance nutrients is good shit if you know how to use it. read the lable like if they say use 0.5 grams per liter then you use 2 grams per gallon it takes a little work but once you get it you will be happy.

bwinn27 - 0.5 grams per litre is 2 grams per gallon isnt it? Did you mean to say "if the bottle says use 0.5 grams per litre start out using 1 gram per gallon"?

Thanks for the help BTW
