FIRST GROW: lots of equipment

ive already started this thread in the "indoor growing" section but this one is more updated and i figured id get some more views/help.. i have lots of equipment as you can tell, i got everything thats in red from a friend for a half ounce of amazing purple kush that came from out in BC somewhere thru a friend. i could use some advice on lots of things, for starters my equipment mainly.. lots of options. i am doing all of this in a room in my basement thats 15x12x7.5... please follow along and help me out as i progress thru my first grow. thanx in advance

Have you grown before? I have been growing for a year and dont have that much equipment.

no not before this grow, its kind of an extended grow, i had an appartment and was growing a plant in my closet, with no education what so ever, just used some CFLs miracle grow soil and tap water and a fan... that plant is now my "main mother" which i have mentioned above that i only have 4 clones off of now but have more in the dome at the moment just waiting for them to root. i moved out of that appartment into a house and got all the equipment in RED writing from a friend. got all that nutrients for $100 and my grow panel was $140. slowly purchased HID bulbs. im actually pretty overwelmed with how much i have under my 400watt MH right now. will take more pics asap

i dont see exhaust fans on your list there? you might need one and a smaller inlet fan. for one light and a room that size you can use like a 6" and a low speed 4" for inlet or if you plan on upgrades you can save yourself and buy larger fans now

ya ive bin trying to figure out the whole ventilation system, there is a window in my room (having a hard time posting pics small enough to load on here, annoying, dono how to make them smaller on the comp) but im worried about using it becuz my neighbours driveway is right beside it. i have a picture i made in paint of the whole lay out ive got goin at the moment, but n e ways i leave the door open to this room with a fan blowing in cold air from the next room over, then 2 fans in the room at the door blowing at each area, veg&flower. but yes i can do as i please with this room for the most part so i wud def. buy the "upgrade" first, that is when i get some money.. or flower some plants for a profit.

go to photo shop and shrink the pictures.. you should be able to build a box around the inside of window to disguise and hide the light when odor becomes a problem (and it will) get a carbon filter

u have alot of shit but sounds like u got deals they say u can never have enough light just have a grow room and a flower room u r going to have some nice yields how many plants u plan on having?

shit, i dont have photoshop lol. and ya i'll take a pic of the window then draw what i think i should do. and for ventilation, not that ive looked into it alot but im guessing you just need some ducting with one fan blowing in fresh air from outside and one sucking all the air out at the other side of the room, and put carbon filters on each one??? then obviously some oci. fans to blow the air around in the room.

to answer specifically i dont know lol. i kinda just went veg crazy lol

right now my plan is to put mothers under the 1000watt MH and potted clones under the 400watt MH.. then have a cycle of flowering i just dont know if this basment can handle all that power so i might have to put the 400watt upstairs somwhere. i have to start topping some of my plants or do something to increase the growth of new shoots/branches so i can start cloneing and flowering then i can figure out which strains i like the most. all my plants under the 400watt as mentioned above are about a foot and half so once my autogrowers are done flowering in about 2 weeks i can turn off the 1000watt HPS, hook up the 1000watt MH and transplant all my plants into recycle bins. and i may as well attach the light mover to the MH, its already set up so.

thats the idea for now, but i do have a brand new flowering bulb for the 400watt MH so im thinking of getting a light mover kit and hooking up the 400watt MH 3200k bulb and the 1000watt HPS... its an option anyways.. or i can flower with the 1000watt HPS and the 400watt MH 7200k bulb. dont know if i'll go that far into experimenting but again.. options are nice . Comments on that n e one??

the second is that same plant (autogrower "Mi5" strain) but when the light was off, so u get the actual colors.

the third pic is my second autogrower "Snowryder" strain, u can see why they call it "Snowryder" too, the white hairs are long and stick straight out, along with the crystal covered false seed sacks. (forget the term for those things)

in the 4th pic the "Snowryder" is on the left, a little blury for some reason i think, i think the camera focused more on the "Mi5" on the right.

the 5th and 6th pic is of my "Main Mother" that i have to have veg. under the 1000watt HPS because there is no room under the 400watt MH as u can see further thru the pics. (HPS is on 18/6 as i mentioned before)

the 7th is of my cloneing area where i have 9 clones from my "other mother that died"

and the rest is of what i could get for the veg. area

it looks like your mom and your clones are in flower ?? they are not all in the same room are they

everything is in the same room.. the ones that are in flower are the autogrowers with my mother, but the light is on 18/6 so technically im vegging my mother while flowering my autogrowers under the 1000watt HPS becuz i have no room for the mother under the 400watt MH.. read my first post thoroughly.. says everything im growing under what.

looks like your mom is also an auto flower cause she is definetly budding..that shouldnt happen under 18/6

oh i see what you mean, ya that mother has bin thru alot of screwing around, its like 10 months old, it was my very first plant. its a long story.......

when i first was vegging it i had it under the 400watt MH by itself so it was doing really well.. i had the rest of these plants under the 1000watt MH all in a tent kinda thing (pictures below) setup in the same room, but when i got the 1000watt MH from my friend i misunderstood him or forgot what he said when i set it up about what kind of ballast it was, i thought he said it was another 400watt but both MH and HPS so i had a 400watt MH bulb in a 1000watt MH ballast not knowing, the light was orangy and was really hot so i took it down and took it into my friends grow shop and asked them to look at it, they took it apart and told it me was a 1000watt MH.. i didnt have a bulb yet for it so i put my 1000watt HPS on a light mover up so i could put my autogrowers into better light for flowering as they had started to show sex and were females. i had no room for my mother so i put it under the 1000watt HPS and figured i may as well bud it becuz i have so many from seed already started. so i started to flower it on 12 and 12 and sexed all my plants under the 400watt MH aswell and to my luck they were all female.. so i did this for about 2 weeks and then decided i wanted to put my mother back into veg and figured the autos could use the extra amount of hours under the HPS.. this is where i am now.. so once i get the 1000watt MH up in about 2 weeks (after my autos are done flowering) i can put the mother back under the 7200k spectrum and it will bounce back into veg.

got it! i did that once befor with some plants that i thought would make nice mothers, and they did.. they just took about a month to get thru the stress.. i just started a grow journal of my own you should check it out. its titled single cola grow journal (round 2) i posted pics of round 1 befor tear down but new pics will be up tomorrow

checked it out n made a post, nice man. exactly what i want to get setup eventually. just need to get these plants from seed in bigger pots and under the 1000watt MH then i can start cloneing. should i be topping or bending these plants to encourage shoot growth or n e thing for potential clones? i have 14 different strains vegging to try out, 9 are unknown so that'll be entertaining for a little while i flower a couple of each kind and figure out which strains i want to keep around.

this is how i have it set up now (picture). i will adjust everything around differently when i am flowering clones from normal genetics. and i will have to seperate veg. and flower. hugely (tenting, ventilation, humidity levels, etc. etc.)

vary nice set up u got plants look really chronic i am subed in

that room's gotta stink. the whole house probably does too.

get some ona gel pronto. smell can seep through the window. check the window is nicely sealed, and seal it if you find any leaks....

i might use the window for a ventilation set up.. but thanx for the tip. and ya the house does stink, not that bad surprisingly tho, i only have 2 autogrowers flowering and they are small.. the rest is veg. either way i do need to do something about the smell the sooner the better. my local grow shop sells the "ona gel" but i herd if u put it in ur grow room it will make ur plants smell like it come harvest, that soapy smell. which ive noticed before from random finished products and never liked it. mainly with kush i found a soapy smell taste.. anyways "ona gel" is more for outside of the room and the upstairs.. i mainly need to get a ventilation system going with carbon filters.. im a newbie tho so im having a hardtime figureing out.

thanx man, i will try to keep pictures up to date.. i can't wait to harvest these autogrower's, they will be my first finished product EVER! and they smell like pure resin, not skunky lol. then as i said i can put my 1000watt MH up and transplant all those big plants from seed into recycle bins (good old free recycle bins lol) then things will start rolling..
