I would suggest buying a 10" MDF box fan and a speed controller. You should be able to run it half speed or something and it will be quieter. I think the 8" MDF fans are available too. They have squirrel cage blowers inside and are pretty quiet depending upon installation. Check the pic of a almost silent 10" installation.

OK, this is a more permanent feature to an indoor garden but making use of unused attic space to run big-ass extractors reduces sound transmission a considerable amount. In this example; the newly plastered and painted ceiling had a huge 11" jagged hole cut out; threaded rods and various attachments supported the weight of a 10" carbon filter at ceiling height; and 90 degree bend went straight thru to the attic where a 10" MDF box fan as mentioned stood clamped and polystyrene padded above. QUIET!. A speed controller was later added because too much of a vacuum was being created.

thanks for the post's guys, hard to get :( ... as for the 10 inch thing i think that might be alittle bit to big for my grow cab i have 2 smaller fans then that and there not exactly quiet.. or even the right size... i couldent find a fan by "mdf" but i like the speed control idea. ill try to find one of those and hook it up to a 4 inch fan or a strong computer fan
(note my box is aprox 24 feet cubed)

Insulating your grow space is another idea. Maybe that rock fiber stuff used in lofts. There isn't an amazing amount that can be done imo without goin over board.

Good luck
