I'm just starting out and am in need of alittle help please.

I have 6 cuttings placed in Root Riot cubes took today in alittle unheated propagator that are under a 250watt hps, heat at the moment inside the prop is 78 and humidity is saying 80%( with prop vents closed ).

How far should the light be away from the cuttings?

I know its best off to use flours at the start but i was on a budget hence why i got the 250watt hps, have i made a drastic mistake in giving these babys a chance in life?

no way hps is excelent you have made a good choice when your not on a budget go for a bigger light

I've allready got a 600watt hps, 600watts at 24 hour was incredible, i used 3 weeks of electric in 1 week lol so it's in the cupboard now gathering dust till 12/12 comes . I think i may get a son agro bulb in a month or so for the 600 as they do seem ok, abit pricier but hey they sound like good stuff.

i just went to look at them, there about 6 hours old now, they've completely lost all structure and just flopped, i take it this is normal?

Hey man, if you're on a budget you're actually going to save money by going to wal mart and grabbing a 4 ft flouro and two tube lights. you'll be under 25$ for the whole thing and only be using a third of the electricity. Now, you only have a 250watter so i'ts not like as drastic as it would be for someone with 600 or more watts, however think of it this way, using the flouros will pay for themselveles in the money you'll save on your bill (plus more!!), and if you wish to root some more plants while your HPS is busy on flower duty, you'll already have some flouros ready and waiting so you'll have more money more lights and more options, it's a cant lose situation IMO!!
