Default First Indoor SOG - Perpetual 2WK Harvest

Hello! I have a few questions concerning my first indoor op, I’ve done quite a few outdoor grows but I will admit I think I was taking mother nature for granted (this stuff gets much more complicated inside). But first I want to say everyone here is awesome as is this board, definitely the most informative I have ever come across in my research.

    So I have 2 closets, both measuring 89in tall – 72in wide – 22.5in deep

For the first closet I’m going to split it in half leaving 2x 44in tall – 72in wide – 22.5in deep chambers

I’m planning on doing a perpetual sog grow with 5 different stages of growth giving me a harvest of 18 pots every 2 weeks.

The first closet is all flowering separated into 2 levels (4 time sections), I’m going to take the clones straight from the Veg closet and put them into dirt in week 0-2 space.

I want to use 6in/1gallon square pots with some quality soil for flowering. That allows me to use 36 pots on each level, 72 total flowering, 3 mothers, and 24 or so clones. I’m planning on going Scissor Hands on these girls and only producing one single cola so I don’t think it should be to crowded but you tell me…

So say the bottom chamber is half week 0-2 and half week 2-4. What sort of lighting should I use given it’s such a wide and skinny space? Do you think say a 600W HPS could cover on whole level, or 2x 400W HPS? I was also looking at T5 Fluorescent lights that are 4 feet wide, that would cover the space nicely but I’ve also read the lack of light intensity would do poor in this sort of op.

(I’m sure I can even the level of the canopy by raising the younger half)

Also keep in mind above this chamber is weeks 4-6 and 6-8 so I think getting 4x HPS would get very pricey. But what’s your opinion?

Ok so now in the other closet there is going to be my 3 mother plants (Mandala #1, Hashberry, Speed Queen) all in 3-gallon pots. They each need to accomplish producing 7-8 clones every 2 weeks. Next to my mothers will be my clone area (Probably a clear rubber made bucket or something similar). So this wide and skinny space needs some lighting suggestions as well, I was thinking maybe fluorescents with cool bulbs? I’m not sure if this will keep my 2 week window. So what do you think, a Metal Halide for the mom’s and fluorescents for the clones?

And I have ventilation pretty figured out so I don’t think heat will be an issue.

Also as far as nutrients go my mothers are the only ones that will require grow nutes right? Since I’m going straight to flower with my clones and given I’m using some quality soil. I’ll be transplanting from Dixie cups to 6in pots at the end of week 0-2 so start using bloom nutes for 3-4?

Thank you all so much and please do disregard my ideas and give me your own especially on the lighting.

is 6-8 clones from each plants every two weeks reasonable? you may need to add a mother plant or two for this type of turnaround from clone. just my opinion but i think you might be counting on clones that may take longer to be sprouted

I'm not sure, I may need a couple mothers each, I think the type of lighting will play the biggest roll. I don't understand why you think I can't pump out rooted clones in 2 weeks though..

as far as i know the clones becoming rooted isnt the issue, its being able to grab that many clones off each plant that often. i havent cloned so im not sure but that seems like a high number of clones for only two weeks of veg time. maybe it will work out under M or t-5 but still you might need more mother plants. have you decided what type of lighting you are going with yet for the vegging?

im thinking we could help each other on ideas

but for your mothers and clones....if heat and ventilation isnt a problem...i say go with mh...but if it will be....grab a couple of eco/enviro lights....

send me a pm, let me know if your gon start a journal...keep in touch man

im also starting, or in the process of starting, a scrog setup with a 600HPS for flower and a t-5 for vegg. i have roughly a 4' x 4' x 7' space and think this will be quite adequate. i think this is the best way to grow out of all the research i have acquired.
