Default LowRyder2 CLOSET GROW Envirolite: Please Help
This is my first grow + first post, so BIG HIIII!

My Grow Room:

The room itself would be a closet (cupboard) 34.5inch wide, 58inch High, 23inch Deep.

Closet will be made reflective, Door replaced with new wood sheet (attachted to original hinges), Hole Cut in top for Hot air Extraction, Hole cut in Bottom For Fresh air Passage. (idea)

Lighting:
Options
125w RED Envirolite With Reflector

200w RED Envirolite With Reflector

Seed:

LowRyder2

Right, My first grow planned for january 10th (when my student loan comes through).

I want this grow to be a learning process (a step before i grow a different more time-consuming strain). Hense lowryder was chosen, auto-flowering so i only need 1 light, short so little room needed, and quick growth. Although i really like the other characteristics it has, so may stick to it!!!

I am on a small budget (say £200) and am growing purely for personal use. I dont need ounces upon ounces of the good stuff (but a few would be nice )

I need some ideas/critisism/advice, as i understand how thorough i must be to grow successfully.

A couple of questions:
· What size pots should i grow in to avoid replanting?
· Which of the above lights shall i buy?
· rules on how often to water (stupid question sorry, but apparently common mistake)?
· How many plants should i grow in closit (for the space and light im using)?

I've ordered 'Jorge Cervantes Ultimate Grow DVD' to have a look at, but as im growing in a small space with a low budget, my surcumstances most likely wont be covered.

Anything Else?

PLEASEEEE HELP!!!

Well if you have a choice between a stonger or not so strong light then go with the bigger one. More light is always better.

basically... grow as much as possilbe. figure out how many pots you can get in there in say a 1 gal size and grow in that.

watering.. very little at first and after they sprout, only when the dirt is dry to about an inch down or so.

lights.. more is better

on the watering, you want to water when your soil is almost dried completely to the bottom. which usually takes 3 days. this way your roots get air and your soil doesnt get moldy.
i grow in a closet too, and a cardboard box (yes a cardboard box). with enviorlites you wont have much heat to exhaust, but you do need fresh air, so like leave the hole at the top, and put a fan on your plants, keep the lights as close to the plants as you can without burning them (one 200w enviro isnt going to be sufficent for too many plants) because it needs to be 1 inch from the top, if you have it too far above it will stretch for light. for one of those lights i'd say 2 plants. 4 if you really squeeze. for lowryder yes 1 gallon i think would be just fine.

cheers russ0r!

Nongreenthumb thats a find and a half! thanks. But u've got me in dilemma! to grow hydro or not to grow hydro.....mmmm!

i worked it out to be around £85 without seeds growing in soil.

-Fleximix Organic Starter Cubes £5.50
-Bio Bizz All-Mix 20 Litre £6.95

-Seedling/cutting nutrient (used till sexing)(as stated in lowryder guide)
-Genesis Bloom 1 Litre £10 or (used for whole of flowering)
-Dr. Hornby’s Big Bud £15
-2x 4 litre deep pots £1
-200watt Envirolite 2700k (red) & Envirolite Reflector £55
-Jack chain £4
-2m Extra Thick Black & White Reflective Sheeting £4

OBVIOUSLY other stuff hasnt been added. (like Ph readers etc.)

Taking Russ0r's advice im going to grow in a 'slightly' smaller cupboard. it will easily fit 2 full grown Lows in, and has shelves to the left perfect for seedlings and cuttings. will probs wack two fluoros in there for them.

im gonna plant all ten seeds, let them grow for 18 days till sexing. expecting 2 super females to sprout out of that 10. then focus on them and GROOOOOoooow (200 watt for 2 plants, 100 watt each is more than enough right? i read 30watts minimum somewhere). take cuttings and then start them on the shelves under fluros.

What du reckon guys!? to go hydro or not to go hydro?

oh i got that dvd...its awesome! SO HELPFUL!

thanks

I know that most people here will go against what I say, but I think it is easier to grow in hydro.

The soil does act as a buffer to your nutrients, but over time you will use more nutrients as the nutrient liquid will not get reused.

I think it is easier to look after hydro plants because you can check everything as you go day by day, the ph of the nutrient the ec level and as long as you keep everything to what it should be you wont get many problems. In soil you cant check the roots you have no idea what the ph is throughout all the soil as I think you will get pockets within the soil that vary ph and moisture

I'm just getting to the end of my first grow, I used hydro at first everything seemed worrying as soon as I got the slightest discolouration on a leaf I would worry and do too much to try and fix it.

Now I don't worry as much keep everything at the right level and the plant has been doing great. Some days I have gone without looking at it at all. It's all pretty much automated.

The choice is yours soil with organic nutes is supposed to taste sweeter. Hydro you supposidly get a bigger yield as you have a better control over the nutrients. Don't rush into anything. Read as much as you can and buy a grow book. I got jorge cervantes indoor grow bible, and that has been very helpful, especially the section about deficiencies, toxicity and pests.

Happy growing

sorry NGThumb didnt check thread b4 i reposted that litlle bit, so didnt see ur reply. Thanks mate

Yeah i have to say that Jorge video is IDEAL for newbs. it has everything and pretty much goes into detail in every aspect.....apart from....HYDRO!!! hehehe

Been researching and planning non stop. i cant wait till January! I only feel familiar with growing soil, so am gonna look into hydro before i make a decision. the closets in my room so checking and attending to the plants daily is fine. plus the fact when i do things, i have to do them properly (bit of a perfectionist) so i reckon hydro wont be to hard. And considering most likely only 2 plants will be grown, i guess high yield is important.

DECISIONS DECIsions decisions!
