Am I supposed to wait for the pre-flowers or can I start cloning now that my plants have reached an adequate high and number of nodes? If I end up cloning a male plants all the resulting clones will be male as well right? Im roughly three weeks in and need to start thinking about cloning and I dont want to waste any time. Any advice is appreciated. Im going to use the SCROG method. Check out my grow journal.

i dont see any growth big enough to clone.

yes you can clone before flower. just label your plants to the clones and flower the clones. then you can keep the best mom in veg for future clones.

not cloning, just getting ready to clone and get all my information straight and factual. thanks for the tips. so will the clones be the same sex as the mother/father(?) or will they be female?

I placed my mothers into 12/12 and sexed them before I cloned. Within 1-2 weeks I saw sex and have cloned scince then. Also I have placed the mother ( 2 mionths later, and 30 clones later) into flowering. She is amazing!

What I always suggest for folks that haven't done this before is kinda like what you are considering. If you are going to do a scrog it works great. Take at least two clones from each plant as you change the light cycle to 12/12 and again two weeks in to the flowering light cycle. Mark which plants the come from of course and get rid of all the males. You want to trim off the bottoms any way so you have nothing to lose except the medium you put the clones in. Plants will usually show sex in less than four weeks, soo...Lets say you started with 12 plants and you meet the law of averages. Four weeks from now you would have 30 known female plants, 6 of which have been flowering for four weeks, 12 that are clones four weeks old and 12 clones that are 2 weeks old. No disruption to your original plants. Genetically the 24 clones will be almost the same age. Four weeks later when your ready to put those 24 female clones in to flowering you may not need two clones from each any more. I used this method to go from 20 to 100+ very quickly. VV

thanks VV. so I am roughly three weeks in to my veggin right now, do I grab a couple cuttings from each plant now or do I wait till four weeks and/or showing sex? i have read that it should show preflowers but also that by switching the light cycle I can sex the as well. in addition I have heard that doing this is bad during flowering because it stresses the plant out and it takes a long time for it to recover. once i get the clones going and i know my plants are female ill be good but i just dont want to risk killing off my females by stressing them out too much. then again i think my setup is good for cloning at this point. also, can i use soil for clones or must i use rockwool? how long should it take to get a clone ready to transplant after cutting it? im goign to be posting a new bitmap picture of my setup, in theory later on tonight on my journal page. thanks for all the help guys.
