is 400 watts too much for the seedling? should i start it off with some regular grow lights first, and then switch to the hps light later?

You can use the HPS but make sure you have it far enough away so you dont burn them. If you have other lights it might be easyier to use it.

thats what i thought. i have a couple regular grow lights that are 75 watts .. how many should i use, 1 or 2?

Again you could do either just make sure that its not too close. Rule of thumb is if you leave your hand over your plant for a minute and its hot than its too hot for your plants.

You can use your hps



it will probably be 52000 lumens roughly at a foot away

so you can have it at about 4 foot above but when they enter veg you should have them about 16 - 18 inches above
