I've just harvested a few branches and i've got them hung upside down in a closet with a fan. The buds are really spread out and leafy, if you can't picture what i mean i could probly post some picz, but anyways, i'm wondering if anybody knows a safe way to compact the buds so they're nice and condensed like it is when you buy it. any advice iz much appreciated *

If you have to ask yourself whether your high or not, you're not high.

If your buds are leafy looking then you just have smaller buds. Not enough flower growth. For what reason i don't know; its really hard to tell what you talking about without pictures.

The buds you buy are the same buds but they were just grown for longer. It could be just the strain but I doubt it. There could be hundreds of reasons/

After you cure them, they will condense some more as the moisture leaves. You could also squish em, lol but then your buds will look really small. Did you let them go right until ripe? Post some pics.
