Computer fans are 5, 6, 12, and 24volts DC. You need a battery charger or computer power supply that is close to the rated voltage of the fan. If your computer fan is dead, go to a repair shop and buy a new one for under $15.

i found a 12v adapter whats that chances of 3 times a charm but im in the uk the us uses a different power supply dosent it?

try my adaptor idea its cheap n easy

i would its just i got a bet im trying to grow 2 plants with every day items i got a pc case with i cfl light and a pc fan if i can get it finished by boxing day i win £100 so trying to keep it simple your idea is very cool thou how did you think of that lol for stoners we can a lot lol

or u can get one of those 9 volt square batteries and connect it to the wires

its done now any way i was going to do that funny enough

to power computer fans, you can use any power supply that puts out between 200ma-400ma (miliamp) anything higher than that, you will risk frying the fan motor. cell plhone chargers tend o be in the 100ma-300ma range, nothing powerful as they only need to charge a phone. If you have an old cordless phone laying around try that. On the plug box its self it will tell you the volts,ma's ect. Just be sure that all positive terminals connect as well as negative, Dont be afraid of crossing lines and frying the fans, if you feed them the wrong power line, then they just wont start, will not do any harm as long as you done exceed the 400ma mark. This is what i have done and if done properly you can wire up numerous fans together but to be safe, i would NOT wire more than 4 to a single power feed! ! ! ! ! , best of luck -----------------------------------420
