ive been reading around and im thinking of growing about 3-4 plants using hydroponics. i have a bunch of questions about how to get going the first being where is a good place to get a hydroponic kit? also, i was thinking about using MH and HPS bulbs and i was wondering what watt amount would be good and if i should use both of them at the same time for vegging and flowering or if i should switch them in and out. my last question is just what is a good nutrient mix to use for flowering and vegging?

to do HYDRO I would seriously recommend getting a great ph/ppm meter... it will cost you about $200....

A few questions to give us a idea as to what you're working with.
how big is your space?
how big do you want your plants to be at harvest?
Budjet?


regarding the lights,
IMO you can't go wrong with dual spectrum during the entire growth phase.
This reproduces the suns full spectrum and in my experience has produced vigorous, healthy and large plants.

i can probably get about a 5' x 4' grow space and ive got a budget of mayb $600... and im looking for the most bud i can get out of 3-4 plants lol

You could also look a cabinet or closet system. Check ebay for a deal as they can be expensive. You could also build your own for half the price too.

Hey DAB... you may want to consider a 4 plant soil grow with a 600 watt bulb...
or maybe go budget and do a CFl grow..

lets look at a small budget
LIGHT on craigslist - $200
Exhaust fan - $150
Soil and containers and pH test kit - $50
Nutrients - $20
oscillating fan - $10
visqueen - $20
timer - $20

so that's about $470

and I am sure I forgot some stuff.. ducting

Ya, I would go for a 4 or 5 plant soil grow. You could even veg them under grow flouros, get a shop light and some chains to start, they are cheap at Walmart (under $20 for hood and bulbs). You will need the fan, nutes, test kit, soil etc first. Save some cash up while vegging and get yourself a nice light an exhaust and all else on GK's list.
