minimum hight for a grow groom?

I've got an awkward grow room space. it's only about 3 foot high. (i live on narrowboat - not a lot of room) I'm going to be growing in soil. will this be a problem? I don't know a lot about growing and this will be my first attempt.

I've got two concerns (although i'm sure there will be more!)

1) will i still be able to make a decent yeald. (i'm going to have about 4-6 pots in there)

and

2) is it a problem if the lights are very close to the plant. I've got both MH and HPS bulbs that i'll switch when i want the plant to flower. i'm guessing that cos the space is so small the lights will be right up close all the time.

thanks

you cant put an hps that close it will be too hot, if thatspace is your only option you might just want to have alot of cfl's.

cfls, and get like lowryders. auto flowering and very short time from plant to harvest. lights close to your plants are good for it(as long as your lights dont get hot) like cfls dont get hot, but lights being close ensures that your plants dont stretch making the stem weak

You can grow with a mh/hps in a 3ft space if you supercrop your plants. You can use screen of green, or tie them down to stop them reaching height. By doing this you will use up more width than height. You will still need good air circulation to avoid burning yr plants and to keep temps down. Get a heat shield which will even out your light distribution and enable you to get the light nearer the plants and choose an indica strain.

For an easy life on your first grow lowryder is an excellent starter plant as it autoflowers and only grows to about 12".
