I've failed in my first attempt at indoor growing and I am convinced it's because of poor medium selection. I was using hydroponix potting soil in the black and purple bag.

Other variables of my setup include a temp of 70* with plenty of airflow and the humidity is a steady 50%. My plants are under 19,200 lumens of CFL 6500k "cool" lights to Veg. I dont overwater, and the lights are 2 to 3 inches away from the plants so the plants arent burning yet after 9 or 10 days they just turn brow/yellow and die on me. My water is ph'd at 6.5.

Today I went and picked up some Miracle Grow Gardening soil as it was tested best on my PH meter. I've heard horror stories about Miracle Grow.

My question is, whats a good medium for indoor growing and where can I get it? My only options here are Loews and Home Depot and all they seem to carry are the Miracle Grow brands. Thanks.

I think you had a decent medium, how often were you watering? Did you have drainage in your pots?

Some people hate MG, but I dont think its so bad. What kind did you get? Organics choice seemed to work best for me.

The only difference between what your doing and what im doing is, im doing it right.

I was watering every 3 days or so. I stuck my finger in the soil to make sure it was dry a good ways down before I watered. But they only made it 10 days so I only watered them 2 or 3 times. I had plenty of drainage for the water.

I got the Miracle Grow Garden Soil for plants and vegetables.

Miracle grow is supposed to be the worst thing for cannabis plants. For a perfect grow medium you'l need some all purpose compost or Peat Moss combined with Perlite which improves the drainage for healthy roots and also combine your soil with Vermiculite which provides insulation for healthy germination and throughout the plants life. Go on youtube and search for 'Ready Set Grow' that should get you up to date =] x

no man, MG is okay.

Just be careful of nute burn. Use the Moisture Control soil with a little sand thrown in and fish out all of the clear "nute bombs" and you'll be fine.

Why dont you use a cube medium to start your growth? They're Ph balanced and great for germination.
